The greatest victory in sports history came when Muhammad Ali knocked out George Foreman to win back the world heavyweight championship boxing title in 1974.
Foreman duly unloaded his relentless bombs on Ali, who spent most of the time leaning on the ropes, soaking up the fearsomely powerful assault.
Nobody could understand this apparently suicidal rope-a-dope strategy other than Ali himself, who had deliberately planned it to exhaust his opponent.
The Greatest didn’t win because he was the stronger man.
He won because he had the smarter tactics, and the courage to execute them.
Donald Trump is the political equivalent of George Foreman — a giant, bruising brawler who destroys opponents with brute force.
But he’s about to face his own Rumble in the Jungle-style fight with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and DeSantis is showing every sign of being the opponent Trump fears most: one who can soak up his punches and knock him out.

Not that we can trust the poles but the punches he is throwing seem to be landing hard. As far as establishment backing, everyone who is a GOPe never Trumper is lining up behind De Santos. It's not his fault the DC swamp is desperate to stop Trump at all costs.
I like De Santos and think he has done great work in Florida. He has a great future. Its just not his time, every dollar spent and every punch thrown between them only empowers Mordor and the MSN.
The article you linked to shows Trump two days before the election, telling the crowd to reelect DeSantis.
Yes.
If you’re going to compare Trump vs De Santis with Clay vs Foreman, I would argue that Trump is Clay and De Santis is Foreman. Like Clay, Trump is older, has more experience, and has been in a lot more fights.
“Don’t write off DeSantis – he’s been rope-a-doping Trump and is about to come out swinging”
i know, right? if/when ron announces, 500 million gazillion percent of Trump supporters will switch over to ron in just a few microseconds ... i know this, because the legion of pro-biden trolls at FR promoting ron tells us so ...
I would say it’s more like Liston - Ali. Liston=Trump, Ali=DeSantis. DeSantis hasn’t won anything yet. Foreman was the champion in the Rumble in Jungle. In this political matchup, Trump is the GOP Champion. Liston was the champion. Whether or not DeSantis ‘shocks the world’, as Ali did, remains to be seen.
De Santis vs Trump is like Taylor Swift stepping into the ring with Mike Tyson.
Trump doesnt care whether the volleys are returned. He throws bombs , if you dont respond he takes it as a win. When Ron responds he will welcomed by a Trump into the pissing match. Trump will crank it up. Will Ron be able to respond? Nah.
DeSantis has apparently never played contact sports. But he’s about to.😏
Trouble with that analogy is that Trump would never take a dive. The 2012 race would be a better comparison, with Romney as Liston.
Why? Why would DeSantis enter the race, seems dumb. Our biggest problem as Republicans is that we don’t present a unified front. All he has to do is wait four years.
Again, for the umpteenth time, that is not true. It’s a lie. I’m sorry you swallowed it whole like that.
Because he’s one of the best governors in America who is stanging up to teh woke crowd and beating them, that’s why.
Unwarranted assumptions.
First of all, I’m against giving all this aid to Ukraine. Second, so is he.
But Trump can’t help it.
Unfortunately, while the personal attacks may have worked in 2016, they turn swing voters off these days.
Except that that is not true. As Governor DeSantis will point out, Florida has some of the most secure election laws in America.
You nailed it.
Leon Spinks.
I have two eyes to see.
Evidently you do not.
