The Russian Defence Ministry claims that five launchers of the American Patriot air defence system were "completely destroyed" by a hypersonic Kinzhal strike on 16 May in Kyiv.
Source: Russia’s Ministry of Defence on Telegram
Quote: "According to reliably confirmed data, on 16 May, as a result of the strike by the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system on Kyiv, a multifunctional radar station was hit and completely destroyed, as well as five launchers of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system manufactured in the United States."
The Ministry of Defence of Russia had previously stated that on 16 May, the Patriot was allegedly hit by a "high-precision strike" of the Kinzhal in Kyiv. The Air Force of Ukraine said that the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system cannot be destroyed with a single strike, even if it is a Kinzhal missile. The Armed Forces added that, on the contrary, it was the Patriots that shot down six Kinzhal missiles near Kyiv on 16 May. At the same time, the American TV channel CNN learned that the Patriot air defence system near Kyiv did suffer damage, but it was "minimal". The US stressed that the air defence system is "in operating condition".
Five launchers containing 4 missiles each is about what I saw in the videos.
Your article is an embarrassment.
Pac 3 is MODULAR. You yourself said there were three pac 3 systems, which I have also heard elsewhere.
The typical setup is 16 missiles per system, each system having FOUR launchers. (4 x 4 = 16)
So if Russia says FIVE launchers were hit that means enough launchers for slightly more than ONE system.
That would be consistent with reports that one system was destroyed and one was damaged, while the third was not in the immediate area of the attack
3 “systems” are much more than 5 launchers.
If you have seen the video of the incidents then their claims are much more plausible than the claims of Kinzhal shotdowns.
Deliberately omitted in this attempted smear is the Patriot system is shown impotent to stop Russia’s hypersonic missiles.
“Hey, you Russians did not blow up as many of our Patriot missiles as you claim” is not exactly a way to inspire confidence in Ukraine’s air defense system. A single Patriot launcher and its missiles are worth untold millions of dollars.
Ukraine’s power has become so mythical, many people will one day wonder if Ukraine ever even existed. I expect Ukraine worshippers will soon start sacrificing virgins to try to save their mythical powerhouse.
Russia also said they had destroyed 14 HIMARS when only 6 had been delivered.
In short, whenever the Kremlin says something, you can be sure it’s the opposite of what happened.
And who does Russia send to destroy Orthodox Churches and to kill Eastern Orthodox believers?
They’re talking to their own people, trying to convince them that this war Putin started isn’t the existential catastrophe for Muskovy that it is.
The Patriot has 4 missile tubes per launcher - depending on type of missile used could be 4 Patriot 2 GEM , range of 100 miles +, this is AA missile used against aircraft, drones, etc
PAC 3 MSE - there are 4 missiles per tube, total 16 per launcher range is 35 KM (20 + miles) This is the anti missile version of Patriot which is one used against Kindzal
I see that Pravda, Russia’s AP, is up to its old tricks.
Anyone who believes they only had 3 jas been duped
Each Patriot battery typically has four firing platoons, and one radar, so three “units” means about 12 platoons. Each platoon has about four launchers, so about 48 launchers. Each launcher hold either 4 or 16 missiles, depending on the mission. Either 16 PAC-3 (better for ballistic missiles) or four long range missiles intended for air-breathers, at longer ranges.

It’s reassuring to see the training and doctrines I trained to are in use and working as planned and rather successfully.
We were often proximate and trained next to Patriot units. The tactic is that mobile AA and artillery can reposition much faster than their opponents. Detering enemy air support and striking their assembled assets. Then moving to the next area to attrit opposing forces. IOW they can reposition faster than the enemy can. It prevents enemy attack while fixing the enemy in prep for an offense. These systems work together to provide dual benefits. AKA a force multiplier.
Two, twenty, two hunderd Pats knocked out. Who cares? Field losses. Pats and MLRS were made to counter Soviet/Russian military and doctrine. As best I can see they’re working just as intended.
The Pac3 is ABM and a good match for Kinzhal which is a first rate weapon system. It’s Achilles heel IMO is it speed. It cannot maneuver at speed making ABM targeting solutions highly reliable.
Why argue over Russian BS?
Propaganda, from both sides, is an integral part of the war effort. The truth always lies somewhere in between.
