(The Center Square) – A large majority of voters say that President Joe Biden should compromise with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to cut government spending as part of a deal to raise the U.S. debt ceiling, according to a new poll commissioned by America’s New Majority Project.
In a national survey of 2,000 people conducted by McLaughlin and Associates over a four-day period beginning on May 4, nearly 61% of voters polled agreed with the statement that “House Republicans have done their jobs and passed a responsible debt ceiling increase, now President Biden and Senate Democrats must do their job and negotiate a compromise...

Cramer says Yellen is trying to get a credit line from the banks for a 1-2 week extension ... stay tuned ...
They should have been saying since Day 1, NO DEBT CEILING INCREASE until the Trump Wall is finished and the border is CLOSED.
People want cuts but not for stuff they like.
Can we please start the cuts with social security and military pensions. We have to start somewhere.
They are implementing a hostile takeover of the country...and that includes a hostile takeover of a majority of the people.
There are supposedly 10 million unfilled positions. Take an across the board 10% reduction in all federal agencies and let those people return to the private sector and do it again each year until all these supposedly empty positions are taken.
AND-—THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY HERE ARE SHIPPED BACK SOUTH OF OUR BORDERS.
WE CANNOT GIVE the INVADERS already HERE ANYTHING.
And legislatively repeal the new mortgage rules that punish people for having excellent credit.
Probably most of the federal debt is based on unconstitutional, unaccountable, desperate elite Democratic and RINO taxing and spending.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
“If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles [emphases added].” — Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).
”Simply this, that the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Constitution, is in the States and not in the federal government [emphases added]. I have sought to effect no change in that respect in the Constitution of the country.” —John Bingham, Congressional. Globe. 1866, page 1292 (see top half of third column)
Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." (non-FR; 6 sec.)
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphasis added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)

So the first step to dealing with unconstitutional federal debt is to eliminate unconstitutional taxing and spending imo.
I fault McCarthy. The Republicans should not allow any debt limit increase at all. Any default will be the choice of the Administration. There are sufficient assets to take care of the problem while spending is scaled back to within our means. Then Debt reduction of 2% annually should be he rule for the foreseeable future. Spending would have to follow. It can be done. Then work on eliminating bit by bit all the agencies and departments and terminating their programs.
But he isn’t even running, right?
And they don’t care what you think
Try something different. Don’t raise the ceiling. Shut this bitch down!
Yeah - I liked Trump’s answer, If Biden won’t agree to spending cuts, then default - it’s going to happen sooner or later.
Cuts, as in cuts - instead of reductions in the rate of increasing:
- government spending
- government employees involved in “climate change”
- government employees involved in “diversity equity and inclusion”
Biden and Democrats are out to punish the middle class. They will cut what hurts the most. They are EVIL!
I say we start with prisoner’s benefits, welfare for universities, reforms in how welfare to able bodied citizens is awarded. The Social Security Disability programs need to be pared back drastically! The Main Social Security funds need to be put back in their own accounts away from the general budget and not looked upon as additional sources of income by spendthift minded politicians!
Nope people like you want to see cuts to granny and vets first! No doubt adjustments will have to be made in those areas but a nation that can’t take care of its own moral responsibilities to senior citizens and vets in need is not a nation worth staying in existence. There are lots of “homo and gender studies pork spending programs that can be cut. It is obscene how much money is spent per year on lifers in prison per year...but Nooooo!... let’s cut bennies to senior citizens instead since they are just “useless eaters”.
Yes you’re right. But every single member of Congress knows that its metaphysically impossible to ever pay off $31 trillion. They have no intention of paying it off so they’ll keep on and on and hope it doesn’t collapse until they’re out of office.
How quaint.
As if what the people want matters one bit to a fascist government.
