MARY LOU MASTERS CONTRIBUTOR May 05, 2023 9:24 AM ET FONT SIZE:

Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy introduced a bill Friday cracking down on noncitizens’ ability to vote in federal elections.

The Protecting American Voters Act, co-sponsored by Republican Reps. Matt Rosendale of Montana, Pete Sessions of Texas and Michael Burgess of Texas, would equip state officials with the information needed to verify citizenship upon voter registration, according to the bill obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The bill also requires federal agencies to provide information upon states’ request, free of fees, from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ SAVE system that confirms who is a naturalized citizen.

The legislation also enables states to check the citizenship status of those already registered to vote, allowing officials to amend current registration rolls by removing those who aren’t citizens.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is required to provide states information about registrants’ citizenship status when asked, the bill reads. The Social Security Administration (SSA) must provide information to inquiring states about citizens who were born in the U.S.

Previously, the DHS had the ability to provide such information, but only at their discretion, and the SSA was not permitted to give details for matters of election integrity, according to a press release provided with the bill. Noncitizens are banned from voting in federal elections, but some slip through the cracks. A Georgia election audit of the state’s registration rolls from 2022 indicates that 1,634 noncitizens registered to vote.

Roy previously introduced H.R. 29, the Border Safety and Security Act, to crack down on illegal immigration, requiring the DHS turn away asylum-seekers or detain them until adjudicated. The congressman wrote a letter in February to his fellow GOP members, asking them to consider and back his legislation.

The Biden administration has seen a surge in illegal immigration. In fiscal year 2022, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered over 2.3 million migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border and more than 1 million from October 2022 to February 2023.

The Trump-era Title 42, implemented to expel illegal migrants, will expire on May 11, leaving many wondering how the U.S. will cope with an expected influx of migrants. The House GOP introduced legislation Tuesday to address the concerns, calling for construction of a border wall, additional border personnel and asylum reform

Article V , Convention of States (COS). Our Founders knew power would tend to grow and centralize into the District of Corruption. That is why they insisted on putting this Article into the Constitution

No. Lots of smaller jurisdictions already allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. It’s just a matter of time before the Democrats legislate the right in the States, and then nationally.

That will help some. Need to add the death penalty to the bill.

Doesn't matter anymore...
With the addition of about 30 million MIVs to the dark voting rolls, no election is contestable...

Probably, the 2024 elections have been over & determined for some time...
George Soros has done his job...

Let’s face it...
Soros already has millions of pre-voted ballots already printed and ready to distribute across the U.S. where the communists need them after the polls close...

Soros will guarantee up to 100,000,000 of those "somehow-missed-mail-in votes" at 3 A.M. after the polls close and counting is suspended...

Those, combined with the 30-to-35 million MIVs who will be voting illegally, will guarantee the proper outcome for the communist ticket...

Wow, I fully support this bill, the biggest question I have is, “why is it even necessary?“ It is beyond any belief that the citizenship status of voters is not checked. This should long since have been a federal mandate in any election in which any single federal candidate is on the ballot.

Why would the RATs do that? This is the whole point of inviting ILLEGAL ALIENS into our country (REPUBLIC) to begin with. Real Americans do not vote for them.

Article V , Convention of States (COS).

I’m completely onboard with an Article V convention, but we really have to stop for a moment and fully grasp the situation we’re in. The “normalcy bias” has got to give way to the realization that we are in the grips of a full-on tyrannical takeover. These are people who routinely ignore the constitution in general and laugh at specific court rulings against them, even those from the Supreme Court. This is despotism, and there is no reason to believe that even if an Article V convention passed amendments to restrict and prohibit the leftists’ unconstitutional actions that they would obey them. They are blatantly refusing to follow the law, and daring anyone to do anything about it. When things get to that point, only forcefully removing them, trying and executing the guilty, and restoring constitutional government has any hope of saving the country.

The founders of this country would have disposed of these vermin with extreme prejudice long before now.

Would equip state officials with the information needed to verify citizenship upon voter registration.

Would equip? How about will require.

If use of this system is not mandatory it will be useless as all the big blue states and cities ignore it.

Republicans are soo stupid.

"Why would the RATs do that?"

They wouldn't. That was the point of my comment.
