Russia's Prigozhin Says Wagner Fighters Will Quit Bakhmut to 'Lick Our Wounds'

Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of Russia's Wagner Group mercenary force, said in a sudden and dramatic announcement on Friday that his forces would pull out of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut that they have been trying in vain to capture since last summer.

Prigozhin said they would withdraw on May 10 - ending their involvement in the longest and bloodiest battle of the war - because of heavy losses and inadequate ammunition supplies. He asked defence chiefs to insert regular army troops in their place.

"I declare on behalf of the Wagner fighters, on behalf of the Wagner command, that on May 10, 2023, we are obliged to transfer positions in the settlement of Bakhmut to units of the defence ministry and withdraw the remains of Wagner to logistics camps to lick our wounds," Prigozhin said in a statement.

"I'm pulling Wagner units out of Bakhmut because in the absence of ammunition they're doomed to perish senselessly."

But but but, Russia is a superpower. They can’t have run out of ammo, Putin is a supergenius and would have figured out how to make enough. He never would do something idiotic and murderous and pointless just for the sake of self-aggrandizement and an insane revanchist USSR reconstuction agenda.

Wager is using convicts, many of whom are violent murderers, as mercenaries.

After the expiration of their 6 month contract, they are given pardons.

There have been cases where pardoned Wagner vets have returned home to commit serious crimes, including murder.

Perhaps the Russians are looking to make sure as few criminals survive their 6 month contracts as is possible.

I like Prigozhin lots more than the faggots holed up in the Kremlin. Meaning Putin, Shoigu and Gerassimov.

I agree with Twitter speculation, that Prigo is holding back his last troops and mercenaries. He is leaving the battlefield. Keeping his remaining Private Army to use in upcoming Kremlin power struggles.

I would love to see shootouts and tanks rolling in the Kremlin as a coup de tete is mounted against scumbag Putin.
