NEW YORK (WPIX) — New York City Mayor Eric Adams unveiled a new plan Sunday to give away Apple AirTags with the hope of catching car thieves.
The Big Apple is giving away 500 Apple AirTags across the New York Police Department’s 43rd Precinct, which covers the southeast Bronx. The area has recorded 207 car thefts since the start of 2023. Most of the thefts involve Kias, Hyundais and Hondas. Carmen Parrilla lives in Castle Hill and said on Sunday that her neighbor’s car was stolen three days before. She is hoping to receive a free AirTag.
“They come into our neighborhoods, it’s like homes at night and everybody’s sleeping,” said Parrilla. “They just do what they do and they’re very professional about it.”

How about moving out of a crime infested third world hell hole where repeat criminals get a free pass again and again?

And why is this? Gotta be more to the story, these thieves will be back on the streets in a couple hours. One has to ask themselves who this would benefit the most, the chop shops will disappear these vehicles faster than an Arkancide so this can’t be it.

And if the thieves are carrying an iPhone, they’ll know the tags are there and remove them. Then you’re out your car and an AirTag.

Supporting law enforcement, stiff sentencing, high bail, and no early release (and returning illegal aliens to their real homes) all come to mind as other possibilities.
Air tags work only if there is a chance that the criminals will be arrested and locked away.

How about just arresting criminals?
A recent report stated that the majority of thefts in NYC are committed by a few hundred criminals, all revolving door types who never spend any time in jail. I'd suspect the same holds true for the car thieves.
To: ChicagoConservative27
So if my car is stolen and I am able to tell the NYPD exactly where it is, will they try to recover it or will they just continue to ignore it? Or will I have to go full vigilante and take it back myself if it is still drivable?

Good luck finding them before I find youThey emit a sound when they're not near the owner. It's to help prevent people from tracking others with the device. Not saying you couldn't roll up on them before they find it, but you may be rolling into a hornets nest depending on whole stole it. Best to have backup.

What’s the AirTag Range?
The first step when locating your AirTag is to open the Find My app and select the Items tab. Bluetooth range is around 30 feet, depending on the conditions like wall thickness and more.
The car thieves are shaking in their boots. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
These people deserve the governments they keep voting in.

After parking, just make sure you roll your windows down.
Chances are, if you get back your car, you won’t have to replace the glass.
