Jenny Craig tells staffers it’s winding down its weight-loss centers and warns of mass layoffs

Jenny Craig has alerted employees to potential mass layoffs as it begins “winding down physical operations” and hunts for a buyer, according to communications the weight-loss company sent some staffers this week.

The company said it “has been going through a sales process for the last couple of months,” according to a document titled “Jenny Craig Company Transition FAQs” that was dated Tuesday and provided to NBC News.

Several Jenny Craig staffers said the company alerted them in recent days about potential layoffs.

The FAQ document said: “While we had to issue Warn Notices specifically for sites where we had more than 50 people potentially impacted, this will likely impact all employees in some manner.

“We do not know the exact employees/groups whom will be impacted, and if any employees may be retained. As a result, we would suggest that you anticipate that your employment may be impacted and begin to seek other employment,” it said.

“”Americans are all finally fit. All BMI’s are 20””

Reminds me of when the ‘experts’ announced they had revised and updated the BMI index. According to the ‘new and improved’ parameters, a person at Michael Jordan’s height and weight (while he was still playing) is obese. The so-called obesity epidemic is just another crisis that cannot be wasted. Yes, there are too many overweight people. The best exercise I ever heard to assist with weight loss are pushaways.
Push yourself away from the table. Just like abstinence, it works every time.

Yeah its just too crude a measurement. I think the shorter you are and the larger weight you have, it is more likely the person is fat/obese, but for making any conclusive determination of health, nope. You need more. Even a photo would give the context to show athlete versus lots of body fat.

Its also at this point unnecessary if you want to use a couple numbers to generalize a persons health. I mean in 2023 for example, the average American woman is 5’4” and weighs 161 pounds, meaning the average American woman is overweight, so they may as well just by default start there for all women.

Plus fat takes up more volume than muscle. Think of fat as a one pound bag of feathers, and muscle as a one pound bag of stones. Two identical people, both the same height, weight, and sex. One is fatty, out of shape, over the bmi, and is bigger (larger clothes), the other is muscular, in shape, over the bmi and smaller (smaller clothes). It makes no sense. But leave it to the bureaucrats to screw everything up.

Muscle is 5x as dense than fat. So yeah, 10 pounds of fat takes 5x the volume as 10 pounds of muscle.

Maybe they’ve looked around and asked, why bother anymore?

Yet being overweight - which 0ver 70% of America is est. to be, and over 40% obese - is estimated to result in approx. 280,000 premature deaths each year. Yet rather than seen a response proportional to that of Covid, the response to the latter resulted in more obesity, and the primary reason for the vast number of Covid-assigned deaths is that of the overall poor condition of Americans. “For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death. (Weekly Updates by Select Demographic and Geographic Characteristics) Primarily those related to obesity, a preventable condition, and 42% of American are obese and 73% are overweight.

[14]

Research shows that people with obesity were more than twice as likely to end up in the hospital and nearly 50 percent more likely to die of COVID-19, with more than 77 percent of 17,000 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the United States having excess weight or obesity.

[15]
[16]
Also, one study found that 88 percent of deaths due to COVID-19 in the first year of the pandemic were in countries where more than half of the population is classified as overweight. In countries where more than 50% of the population was overweight, the COVID-19 death rate was more than 100 per 100,000.
[17]
And, “two new, large studies from England and Mexico further detail obesity as being a risk factor for poor COVID-19–related outcomes, including death, with a UK study showing the highest hospitalization rate being among young adults.
[18]
[19]

Moreover, some 42% of U.S. adults reported packing on undesired weight since the start of the pandemic.

[20]
Which is just one of the negative effects of a "stay sheltered" shutdown response, even of parks, forests and seashores early on,

Jenny Craig can thank woke-ism, which glorifies and gives the stamp of approval to dangerous obesity.

Once again, I’m reminded of the saying: “Everything liberals touch...”
