Yes. The pipeline hadn’t been used anyway, and more sanctions were on the way. It’s likely, that the Putin administration wanted to express a threat to cut Europe off permanently from Russian gas in order to impose fear or an implied threat of war.
And the Kremlin being the most common perpetrator of false flags and projections of its false flag behavior on others, its bosses planned to blame the U.S. for the purpose of injecting more doubts into western chatterers limited by narrow, shortsighted thought patterns and confirmation bias and to cause division between our allies.

Interesting. Reed alleged that under Reagan, our government sold bad software designed to fail to the Russians for the pipeline. So there’s a different modus operandi. And there was a lack of motive for our government to damage the Nordstream with physical demolition. The pipeline wasn’t delivering gas at the time, and Europe had already scheduled tighter sanctions against Russian energy and has done pretty well with sanctions so far, all considered.
The invasion didn’t blow up the pipeline. Germany refused to let it turn on. Nord stream one was pumping all it could. The only limit was when Germany wouldn’t let the compressor return from Canada. They would’ve been thrilled to turn on the gas of Nord stream two and pump at the maximum rate. The evidence of this is that they keep pumping through Ukraine right now. But the combination of Germany and the US refusing to allow it to flow, combined with European unwillingness to pay for it after seizing their assets is what killed the pipeline. No, the Russians did not do this. DC and Poland did, working with Norway . The goal was to prevent energy hungry Germany from pushing for a peace cease-fire or a backdown of sanctions. Seymore Hersh nailed it.
