Diversity Chief Slams Diversity During Speech At Military College

Virginia’s chief diversity officer slammed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) during a mandatory training session last week, according to The Washington Post.

Martin D. Brown, chief diversity, opportunity, and inclusion officer in Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s administration, spoke to VMI faculty and staff on April 21 during its mandatory Employee Inclusive Excellence Training held every year, the Post reported. He was quick to inform the audience that DEI is “dead” and that Youngkin’s philosophy is “of civil discourse, civility” and “living the golden rule.”

“VMI’s in a unique space … You’ve been at the tip of the spear in serving our country in sending warriors to battle, but in a way, you’re at the tip of the spear in this cultural war as well,” Brown said. “Generally, when you are focusing on equity, you’re not pursuing merit or excellence or achievement. Not all the time, but you’re looking at equal outcomes.”

VMI, much like the beltway bureaucracy, is populated by faculty and staff that have fully bought-into DEI, so just because a mere governor is against DEI, these folks won’t relent.

They have created a “Stonewall Jackson-free” environment - and ripped him from his pedestal - the man who was VMI.

The woke superintendent mandated DEI at the urging of the previous black-faced governor.

The honor code has been dismantled as part of DEI, because “honor” is hard for some people, apparently.

They shat upon the revered New Market cadets, who honorably served, fought and died for their country, and who lie in their graves as American as apple pie, watched over by the beautiful sculpture of Moses Esekiel - which has been “reinterpreted”.

So what’s left? The merest shell of an anachronism. There is no reason for anybody to go to or aspire to go to VMI, so a lot fewer people go there, a trend I expect to continue into its inevitable oblivion.

She told me that a classmate of hers,who had become a Vice Chancellor of Admissions at Harvard,had once told her that were it not for Harvard's "complicated" admissions policy every Freshman class would consist entirely of Asians and Jews.

And even at this moment there's a case before SCOTUS in which one,or more,Asians are accusing Harvard of discrimination against Asians. I suspect that that decision will be coming soon.
