Former President Trump on Sunday compared himself to former President Nixon, touting the support he has in Congress and within his party as he weathered impeachment proceedings and now faces ongoing legal battles.
“I’ll never forget: When that happened, we had such great support. Nixon had no support. You know, he just didn’t have support. He was very, very tough with people. I get along with people. I mean, I have great Jim Jordan, and all these congressmen are great. They’re really incredible people,” Trump said in an interview with Mark Levin, aired on Fox News.
“Nixon didn’t get along with the people in Congress. He didn’t get along with the senators. But the fact is, we have some great people in the Republican Party, but I get along with them, and they stuck together,” Trump said.

Yes, I’m not that “Nixon, but with friends” is great branding.
I wish he hadn’t brought up Nixon, the media will probably try to incorporate that in the coverage of him now.

If Trump wants to be successful as President, indeed, just “stay alive” - he needs to control the DOJ

Aside from the vote corruption wildcard, which is huge, I like Trump’s chances against Biden in the rematch.

I feel about Trump much the same way. The things the left hates Trump for are the things I love about Trump. But I could do without Trump's big government Republican ways (even if you rate Trump before covid, ya gotta admit he was a big spender).
Of course the Lamestream Media will distort and distract as always but so??? To his point - Nixon was the opposite of a “people” person. Trump appeals on a personal level to the few in a small room to massive rallies to Media, and in this case he connects personally to Jim Jordan as well as, JJ is a brilliant, passionate Legal Eagle with street smarts. The people who have “Trump Problems” and are unreliable for him - which does not mean they should agree with every thing he does and says every second of every day” - in my view lack perspective and judgement and are lost in the weeds of life.

I have to wonder about Trump, sometimes. He really should know better. The Lamestream media has portrayed Nixon as the biggest traitor of all times, while his 'crimes' pale in insignificance to what the Democrats get away with on a daily basis nowadays.
I sure hope they do find others.
I can’t stand the thought of a campaign with Trump refusing to let go of the past, bellowing jealous insults at younger people in his own party, and making it all about him.
All this while Biden is kept in isolation because the Dems are terrified of what their 80+ candidate might say or do in public and because with the compliance of the media can win by default. Everybody knows he’s actually not the one running things and nobody even pretends to ask him questions. And the Dems will get away with it.
I used to react that way myself.
Eventually, I concluded Trump is a master a forcing the media to cover him, dominating coverage, and choking off his opponents' media coverage. Makes it hard for them to ever get their message out and get traction. And all voters hear is Trump's opinion of his opponents.
Often he makes a post go viral by adding an uppercut - like when he referred to people coming forward to accuse him of assaults and said "DeSantis might experience this himself from women (maybe a man!)..."
I too am saddened by Trump and Nixon comparisons.
Trump was one of the most conservative presidents, looking at most of his actual policies.
Nixon on the other hand massively expanded the deep state, took us off the gold standard, and was one of the best friends big government ever had.
Trump couldn’t be more different.
