Last summer, Christine spotted a hickey on her then-15-year-old daughter’s neck. When she asked where it came from, her teen turned bright red.

But secretly Christine couldn’t help wondering: Was her teenager — living in one of California’s most affluent cities and a freshman at one of the state’s top-performing schools — just following a trend?
It is a wealthy community, and I think these kids have a lot of guilt about their environment. I definitely think, in their mind, it’s super cool to be bi, or gay, for sure.
I question whether it’s about being accepted. Because I think the pressure for these kids to fall into an oppressed category is so strong that they just want to be in some sort of group.

I think I'm seeing part of the problem here. If her sister was treated "special" due to being gay, the daughter may have thought she could be treated special as well. Especially if so many of her school friends were doing the same.
It is a trend or fad.
No different than being a “valley girl” or a hundred other fads.
Just this one comes from the sexualization of youth, no different than being trans is often a fad rather than real body dysmorphia.
Except this fad can kill.

That permanent “transition” can’t be undone when the “trend” goes out of style.
I have been saying for decades that same sex attraction among females is much higher than most people think. I’d say somewhere around forty percent. How they handle it varies significantly. Our diseased culture is now encouraging them to do it.

Along with competing with each other as to which group is the most victimized. The media is the loudest supporter of victimization. Every article on any governmental policy addresses the issue as to which segment of society will be harmed the most if said policy is implemented (or not). Before it was various racial minority groups. Now the trans-crazy GIBLETS have taken top position on the totem pole.

I agree; for many of them, it’s just a phase. Heck, based on what I can figure out, it used to be a regular part of growing up. Something that hit between the time the hormones started percolating and they got old enough for dates and eventually marriage.
I’d go so far as to say that it’s something the fathers and brothers were careful not to notice or remark on because they considered the consequences of a bit of foolery between young girls to be far less severe than might occur when the boys started sniffing around.
