I agree; for many of them, it’s just a phase. Heck, based on what I can figure out, it used to be a regular part of growing up. Something that hit between the time the hormones started percolating and they got old enough for dates and eventually marriage.
I’d go so far as to say that it’s something the fathers and brothers were careful not to notice or remark on because they considered the consequences of a bit of foolery between young girls to be far less severe than might occur when the boys started sniffing around.
Definitely not a part of my growing up.
