A group of liberal Democrats reintroduced the Green New Deal Thursday, the controversial environmental legislation that experts say would spike energy costs in the U.S. and cost taxpayers tens of trillions of dollars.
Advocates, though, argue the changes are needed to prevent worsening climate change and get ahead of an inevitable renewable energy transition.
“For so long, our movement towards a sustainable future has been divided with really just this false notion that we have to choose between our planet and our economy,” U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said at a news conference Thursday.
Ocasio-Cortez has largely become the face of the legislation, which she called “enormous legislation, huge in scope” and emphasizing the 20 million union jobs and investments in mass transit and electrical vehicle infrastructure such as charging ports.

Ocasio-Cortez has also said we need to revamp how we operate farms and ranches. The farming and ranching industries use huge amounts of fossil fuels. And this fact offends the sensibilities of the likes of Ocasio Cortez.
Random thought— I wonder if Ocasio-Cortez has ever been on a farm, or has any clue what happens there.
They’re jamming the transportation part of the GND down our throats via EPA regulation, Congress is not involved. The announcement last week of new CO2 standards will end the ICEv. There is no way EVs can replace them for a variety of reasons.

Does anybody think AOC can answer: 1. How is she going to get the manufacturer of Solar to Unionize in China? 2. How helping Chinese unions going to help Americans. 3. How is the United States destroying itself in the pursuit of ‘green’ going to save the planet when China, the biggest producer of CO2 is just building more coal fired power plants? 4. Does the answers to any of the above questions make any sense to anyone, or is AOC just an ignorant Watermelon?

Environmental policy has as much to do with saving the planet as CoupFlu policy has to do with protecting public health.
