Twitter quietly changes its hateful conduct policy
NBC News ^ | April 18 | By Angela Yang

Twitter sparked backlash this week after some users noticed it had quietly removed language in its hateful conduct policy that explicitly protected transgender people from online harassment.

The social media platform had prohibited the targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender people since 2018. Some online noticed this month that the sentence had been plucked from Twitter’s section on slurs and tropes, while all other descriptions of policy violations remained intact.

Archives captured by the Wayback Machine showed the previous version still existed April 7, the day Twitter announced it had updated its abuse and harassment policy to redefine “targeted harassment.” But by the next day, the line had disappeared.

The advocacy group GLAAD condemned the move in a statement Tuesday, calling it the latest in a series of changes that have made the platform less safe for people and advertisers.

“Twitter’s hateful conduct policy protected trans people from targeted misgendering and deadnaming for close to five years, and now they mysteriously removed it without a word,” GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement.

“This is unacceptable in any climate, and doubly unacceptable when you look at the barrage of disinformation and hate about trans people from right wing media personalities, politicians, and the extremists they bolster.”

“Misgendering” is an odd term to describe being truthful a out whether the person is a man or a woman.

“Deadnaming” is a weird way to.describe clling people by their real name..

Human beings cannot change their sex...or their gender.

There! That should put me on the FBI's watch list as a hate crime terrorist!

Personally, I believe everyone should be referred to by their legal names when referenced in news stories that are important to the public interest.

I cringe when Stephanie Clifford is referred to as Stormy Daniels, and if trans people want to be called something else, then go to city hall and have the name changed legally.

Otherwise, the public has a right to have public records be accurate when trying to research history many years from now.

If/when the word spreads about that policy change, expect a lot of high octane, profanity laden threats that using someone’s former name will
cause that person to commit suicide.

This is the card most often played to make people stop voicing any disagreement with their views of how life should be. That card is losing some of its “scare power” here recently.

“Targeted misgendering”. Specifically, calling a he a ‘he’, and a she a ‘she’. When truth becomes slander in a court of law, things are pretty messed up. We may see that day.

Well, since there is not actually any “transgender” possible, no foul.

The last time I looked into this, in CA at least, it was 100% legal to call yourself by any name you chose, so long as there was no intent to defraud.

No need for a "legal" name change in a court, but those were better accepted by mortgage companies and similar.

Of course changing from a typically male name to a female one could easily be construed as an attempt to defraud...

That was the absolutely dumbest policy of the old Twitter. Many trans fanatics are autistic and that makes them both obsessive and in some cases tech savvy. They were using scripts and botnets to mass report people who spoke against their madness thus getting these people autobanned.

It’s good to see that the lying, gaslighting, leftist filthbags who direct NBC “news” have time to go after Twitter now that a non-leftist owns it, yet they still ignore huge, important stories including those about the Biden Crime Family’s shocking, endless corruption. Great!

When did trans become such a heated topic? I thought that once gay people were allowed to marry, that all life’s ills including gender identity would be cured forever. Now we must normalize trans life? What’s next? This isn’t normal. None of it. In fact its evil.

Once gay marriage became legal the organizations still existed. There were jobs and streams of donor money. There were people to take this up and refuse to acknowledge the problem has been solved - they invented a new problem to keep the money flowing.

Happens all the time.

Because words matter, try disgust and/or revulsion.

Some might even include 'pity' depending on the degree of psychopathy.
