A Department of Defense assessment of locations proposed to build offshore wind farms on the Atlantic coast found several areas to be “highly problematic” due to their proximity to U.S. military training sites, Bloomberg reported on Monday, publishing a Pentagon map of the areas in question.
A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed to Fox News on the same day that the warnings published by Bloomberg were an authentic assessment of proposed areas for offshore wind development, stating that the Defense Department would “continue to work” with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), responsible for greenlighting the offshore wind deals, to find the “best locations for development.”

Not only their proximity to military installations, but what about extremely high priced, very unreliable power? That will destroy USA economic competitiveness and military readiness.
There are MANY solid engineering and economic reasons to not pursue the Green Wet Dream, the biggest of which is that it WILL NOT WORK.
You cannot make economic power out of a very low intensity solar or wind energy resources (wind is, of course, indirect solar).
I remember when ole Teddy K blocked a big one off Maathas Vinyad because “he liked to sail out there” LOL
Their payback period is 21 years.
Advertised operating life is 20 years.
Actual operational life is 10 years.
The blades are almost impossible to dispose of and are typically abandoned in place.

That and there aren’t sufficient quantities of minerals on the planet which are needed to build it.
It’s probably very hard to hear a Boomer, even a Russian one, when there are a buncha windmills merrily windmilling away nearby.
NIMBMB — Not In My Back Military Base
The navy can’t get a clean launch at 747’s on departure with all those windmill blades spinning around.
The pols need to listen to the Pentagon on this one.
I saw a shocking chart about windmill productivity over time. Apparantly, efficiency declines steadily each year, such that by the last year of designed life, they are operating at sometimes <50% efficiency.
Exactly. Even if we DID have enough minerals in the earth’s crust, the regulators won’t let the mines open, not enough mines can be opened quickly enough, and some analyses show it will take 150 to 200 years to build out the replacement energy infrastructure.
they are whale killers- but the left don’t seem to care- only when hurting a species benefits one of their agendas will they denounce ‘animal cruelty and destruction’
Excellent!
Was just in Cyprus, and was appalled at the beautiful mountains with windmills all over them.
My sister and brother-in-law live in a very nice suburb north of Houston. When, heaven forbid, their temp went down below zero a couple of years ago, windmills froze and had to be de-iced by gas guzzling little helicopters spraying (harsh) chemicals.
Plus, windmills murder millions of birds. Not OK with me.
Russians subs can use them for navigation aids.
>> That will destroy USA economic competitiveness and military readiness.<<
Is that not the whole idea?
Thanks. Lots of multi-generation ranchers on California ranches have been driven off their ancestral lands by the flicker and low frequency sounds.
We have a summer place on Hayden Lake in North Idaho. Across the lake is the Coeur d’Alene National Forest and it continues 45 miles eastward to Montana. I’m fearful that the federal government will cut down all the trees on the ridges and put those machines up for us to look at. The huge push by Biden & Co will fill our country with millions of those machines. All the good wind sites are already used up, so they will have to wipe out forests to erect the next wave of them.
Germany has already been cutting down forests to put up windmills! How’s that for “green”? You destroy the carbon sink (trees) to put up “green” windmills to prevent carbon emissions by power plants. That is the stupidest thing I think I’ve ever heard.
