Not only their proximity to military installations, but what about extremely high priced, very unreliable power? That will destroy USA economic competitiveness and military readiness.

There are MANY solid engineering and economic reasons to not pursue the Green Wet Dream, the biggest of which is that it WILL NOT WORK.

You cannot make economic power out of a very low intensity solar or wind energy resources (wind is, of course, indirect solar).

That and there aren’t sufficient quantities of minerals on the planet which are needed to build it.
