McCarthy lays out Republican debt ceiling plan
The Center Square ^ | 4/17/23 | Casey Harper

U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Monday Republicans will vote to cut federal spending when it agrees to raise the debt ceiling, setting the stage for a pending political struggle over growing federal debt and what to do about it.

“OK, so here’s our plan,” McCarthy said at the New York Stock Exchange Institute Monday. “In the coming weeks, the House will vote on a bill to lift the debt ceiling into the next year, save taxpayers trillions of dollars, make us less dependant on China, curve our high inflation, all without touching Social Security and Medicare.”

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned lawmakers that they face a looming deadline: raise the debt limit or face defaulting on U.S.’ debt obligations, an unprecedented failure that would have major consequences for the global and U.S. economy.

Spending originates in the House. House members need to do their job and ignore the media. The freedom caucus needs to hold McCarthy's feet to the fire and force him to take a stand. Our ever-increasing debt crisis has been ignored for too many decades as Congress always promises to cut spending later in return for an increased debt limit now. "Later" spending cuts never happen. Just give every budget a 10% haircut except for military and border security. That's two jobs for which the federal government is actually responsible for doing.

“House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) reportedly said Monday that he believes there are 218 votes to pass House Republicans’ forthcoming debt ceiling resolution, which he said contains measures to limit federal spending, save taxpayers’ money, and “grow the economy.””

I want to see McCarthy's magic wand that will make this work.

A 20% import tariff would do it.

Same old bs - “cut” spending such that spending continues to go up.

Turn them into factories that produce goods and employ thousands and so on and so on.

Oh sure, just trust McCarthy to cut spending later, like when McCarthy promised us that he would release the J-6 videos to the public.

Motion to vacate now!

Americans don’t want to pay for American goods. It’s just a slogan to make everyone feel good.

Why do you think the majority of manufacturing went offshore? So people could buy their sh*t cheaper.

“Oh sure, just trust McCarthy to cut spending later, like when McCarthy promised us that he would release the J-6 videos to the public.”

People act like saying he would release them and then allowing Carlson to show four clips was sufficient to say he released the tapes. The lies and cover-up by the leaders and members of both current parties is so blatant that with either one of them in charge at the moment is like having the fox in charge of hen-house security.

Yes they do. I hate buying foreign goods. Hate it

Why do you think the majority of manufacturing went offshore? So people could buy their sh*t cheaper.

The "savings" using foreign labor goes into the pockets of globalist corporations. They do not pass along the "savings" to you.

McCarthy will not be believable until he delivers the videos of J6 to the defendants.

Period.

Spoken like someone who doesn't know. Please explain why TVs and computers become considerably cheaper when production was pushed off shore? Shoes and clothing also? Have you ever compared the cost of a US made shoe vs an import? So yeah Americans wanted their cheap sh*t and didn't give a rat's ass when so much was moved offshore in the 80s and 90s. Especially those that ran around in their Harley jackets with their Union Made pins on.

They're cheaper because of the manufacturing process is very automated. A $600 TV made in China, if made in the USA, would cost $610. It wouldn't cost $10,000/TV like you Free Traitor™ idiots think. There is very little $LABOR PER unit in all manufactured goods NO MATTER WHERE IT IS MADE.

I guess a lot of US kids need to die in war for you Free Traitors™ to undestand the depth of your depravity.

That must be why Magnavox and RCA are still making TVs in the US and selling like hotcakes to all the USA First guys like you? Or did you jump on the bandwagon and buy a Sony back in the day because the quality was way better?

Demand for cheap goods lead the way. The number one criteria when buying a product is price. Where it’s made is generally 4th or 5th.

And what’s with the stupid juvenile label? Nice assumption that I want to “kill kids” for free trade. Sounds like a typical liberal argument. but this isn’t the first time you act like a lib...
