Former President Donald Trump did not hold back his praises to some of the world's authoritarian leaders in a new media appearance. In his interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Trump shared his admiration for the leadership styles of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
"They're all top of the line," Trump said.
The former president described Xi as a "brilliant man" and recalled meeting with him in his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida in 2017.
"President Xi is a brilliant man... The look, the brain, the whole thing. We had a great relationship," Trump said.
"You know, when he first came to Mar-a-Lago, it was so organized by them and by us, but by them very pom, pom, pom," he added.
Trump also shared that his meeting with the Chinese leader was supposed to take 15 minutes, but it lasted four hours, saying, "We got along so well."
The former president also praised Kim for being a "top of the line" and "very tough" leader.
"People ask how smart is Kim Jong Un? Kim Jong Un is smart too," Trump said.
He also gushed about Kim's "total dominate control" of North Korea.
Trump met the North Korean leader thrice during his time as president.

I have a feeling this srticle is out of context.
It really is funny when the writers of these articles don’t find Western leaders in any way “tyrannical”. It’s always somebody else engaged in tyranny.
Well, I’m sure people in other countries make very similar comments about our fearless leader Joe Biden ...

It would seem the extent to which Trump “praised” these men is stating that they are intelligent humans. They both have outmaneuvered the US for decades so perhaps Trump is on to something.

Xi is the leader of China, 3 billion or so people. More proof why Trump is needed. To pretend that they are stupid is silly. They are sharp, cunning and they have the support of their leadership infrastructure. Knowing that is step one in dealing with them.

Trump, when you get past the bluster, is a negotiator.
Compared to Joe Biden they are like Sherlock Holmes smarter brother.
Unlike the US, a tyrant needs to be smart and ruthless.
Here, he just needs to have his diaper changed.

When Biden’s calls Putin a “War Criminal”, just for the effect of saying it, It seems like a 5 year old calling someone a poo poo face.
Who says you can’t be a corrupt tyrant and brilliant at the same time? I am sure it is more typical then not.
Trump was talking about intellect- IQ... He also said Bernie Sanders was sharp as a tack - or something like that...
Knowing a person has a high IQ and is capable isn’t an enforcement it’s a statement of fact. Oh, and Trump was kind not to mention Biden and most of his Administration are idiots.
And yet no kudos for our tyrants.
Just another little dumb undisciplined habit Trump has that we look the other way at, praising monsters. Kim feeds people to dogs and has starved and murdered many. Though Putin has made statements defending Christianity and against the gender nonsense he’s largely a bloody dictator causing horror in Ukraine and Russia. Xi is horrible with a history of forced abortions, concentration camps, persecutions of Christians and imprisonments. Come on Trump! Study the picture of a stern-faced Reagan leaving the summit with Gorbachev when Gorby made unacceptable demand on the US.
I agree. Xi really is smart. Unlike our Presidents.
Knowing that they are smart is not an endorse of everything they do. If you watch the Tucker interview you get a sense of why they are so afraid of letting people see Trump as he is.
Oh please, he didn’t say they were nice people. He said they were smart, and they are.
