Just how gross was it at that San Francisco Whole Foods? Customers weigh in online with their experiences at the now-shuttered Whole Foods flagship store in that bum-infested city
American Thinker ^ | 04/12/2023 | Monica Showalter

Whole Foods on Monday shut down its ritzy new flagship store in San Francisco, after just a year in operation, citing crime and safety concerns.

I wrote about that astonishing event yesterday, brought on by the city's failure to enforce its own laws, noting that the company had a good customer base and had shelled out big to make the place attractive, but that was no match for the chaos the one-party government had allowed the area to fall into. Whole Foods may have had a punchbowl for themselves and its customers, but with the city's coddling of bums and criminals, someone dropped a deuce in it.

In this case, seems that was literally. The story seems to have set San Francisco's locals buzzing on the internet, with person after person giving his story about what he saw in that place as it happened.

I curated a few doozies describing how bad it was:

Whole Foods San Francisco at SOMA 4th St. This is what employees have to deal with daily in S.F. People high on drugs, in psychosis. Suspect ate lot of fruit in store, his basket was full of orange/banana/tangerine peels. Look at security, hiding behind that brave woman employee

This picture appears to be from the Whole Foods nearest to the Whole Foods that was shuttered, slightly up the road at Powell and Market. The point is clear, though.

From local publication SFist:

The block of Market Street between Seventh and Eighth streets has been notably more chaotic since the pandemic, with a crowds typically congregating closer to the Seventh Street end, and plenty of open-air drug use and dealing going on.

“without cleaning up the homeless population outside on the public sidewalks”

Governments have had to tolerate bums since a court decision I believe in the 1960s.

What the federal government could do is to go after the recreation drug supply by say busting the pot sellers. Nancy Pelosi could get the DEA to act with just one phone call.

When Newsome announces his bid for the presidency, watch the media shower him with love, causing even more people to flock to him.

It is possible to have penalty time rooms where offenders could have to stay for say 100 hours total within 30 days for say a shoplifting incident, or spend eight hours in jail for every hour they don’t, with hours spent in the 168 hours after arrest counting double, hours spent in the second week counting 150 percent, etc.

The offender might be required to opt in by spending at least eight hours in such a room within 72 hours of arrest.

This system would cut costs by removing the need for most trials, public defenders and jail medical care. It would also allow offenders to retain their legitimate jobs.

Years ago I took an economics extension class taught by an African man who had a doctorate..the class studied co ops and grocery stores, and determined prices were higher in ghetto areas than the suburbs, attributed to more crime so the poorer people had to pay more for food unless they went out of the ghetto to suburbs to shop.

The professor explained he had two choices in Africa, to work in the diamond mines for little pay or try and smuggle out diamonds to sell or go to school..he chose the latter. He had real contempt for American blacks who he felt had all the opportunity in the world and most did not take advantage of it.

Having lived in the bay area for 22 years, I was curious as to the exact location of the store. Yesterday morning I went to google maps and immediately located the store, which even was identified on google maps in the manner that they identify any store, restaurant, hotel etc.

Today? it is no longer marked.

The location has also already been scrubbed at the Whole Paycheck website.

Going to "street view" and looking at the area indicates the extent of the problem in that city

That’s one of the worst areas in SF for bums. Whole Foods is not the first grocery market to close up near 8th and Market corridor.

You know, I’m of the mind set now that I really don’t give a rats about these stories, in fact, the worse the news the better.

Everything we’re seeing, everyday, is the result of a fraudulent election.

We should have had the presidency and both houses in 2020, but massive voter fraud, obvious to everyone took place.

So, let it get worse. I don’t care.

Ukraine eventually falls to Russia.
Great bring it on.

INterest rates rise.
You betcha

Crime increases in all those once great cities including my home town of Chicago.
Yep

Businesses closing, and people leaving those blue states.
Sure, why not.

American dollar goes kaput?
Yes.

Homeless continue to sleep in the streets?
Beverly Hills made my day.

Trans get more and more endorsements?
I’m waiting for Victoria Secret.

And on.

This is Joe Biden and his minions.

Make no mistake of it. These people will let it get worse, and blame the republicans for it.

But won’t work this time.

Whole Foods caters to the left and now the left has destroyed it. No sympathy here, deal with it.

I’m at that corner several days a week. It is bad, bad, bad.

The Whole Foods is on the ground floor of a mega housing project, which includes some rent-controlled and some below market units, but mainly for profit. The project was planned in 2006. It looked like the timing was great when it was nearing completion, with Twitter a couple of blocks away, and a sh*t-ton of yuppie coders inhabiting the city - just the kind of clientele Whole Foods caters to.

Not any more.

Interesting. My MD is Nigerian, Yes, a black guy. Best doc ever. Good Christian, too. He’s more than a doctor, we’ve become friends.

I once lived in a suburb of LA and drove through a Mexican/Black area on the way home, nice enough area. Stopped for a few groceries a couple of times and the prices were higher and quality lower than stores in white areas. Not OK, but I guess it’s because of theft losses. Or maybe not.
