NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — He may have been expelled Thursday evening, but Justin Jones is back in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
The ousted legislator was reappointed to his former seat in the 52nd District in Nashville by the Metro Council Monday afternoon, two business days after he was officially expelled from the House for breaking decorum rules on the House floor March 30.
Jones faced expulsion along with fellow Democrats Gloria Johnson of Knoxville and Justin Pearson of Memphis. Johnson survived the expulsion vote by one, but Pearson was ousted as well Thursday. The move was met with national criticism of Republican leaders in the state house, including House Speaker Cameron Sexton.
Shortly after the expulsion, Metro leaders were quick to announce their support for Jones and intentions to send him back to House. Vice Mayor Jim Shulman quickly announced a special called meeting to announce the vacancy, as required by law.

They did what they could within the rules.
What else did you want them to do?
That’s a genuine question. What could they have done to convince you that is wasn’t “just for show”?
Burring = building…
He better be on his best behavior.
He better be on his best behavior.
Kick him out again, and as many times as necessary until they replace him with someone else.
“The simple answer is refuse to seat him. He was expelled for cause, that cause is still valid.”
I have no doubt that the voters in the Memphis and Nashville districts will vote both expelled members back in. And there they’ll stay.
Hopefully. Otherwise they keep doing it. Its a government body, not someones living room and/or screaming match.
America needs to separate from cities.
They’re swearing his sorry arse in right now but I don’t know who the wench is who’s doing it. Not a Republican, that’s for sure.
Makes me sick. This should not have been allowed.
I don’t think they can do that. The Tennessee legislature should not fold at this point. The left wouldn’t. I believe their own laws say they are to point a “successor”. A successor is a “one that follows” a previous person as holder of a “throne, title, estate, or office”. A person cannot succeed themselves.
Sit his black ass in a janitors closet. Ignore him. Give him no floor time.

I'm sure they will have lifetime seats now.
If the two gentlemen straighten up and behave in public, it will be a good lesson for all.
If they act-up again, send them home again.
And in the back and forth make sure no goodies are sent back to the districts in insurrection.
In Washington D.C. they put people in jail for acting ugly inside a government building.
The legislature exercises its power and the city council exercises its power.
Vote them out again or refuse to recognize the appointments.

If an individual TN legislator can invite a mob into the chambers to disrupt the proceedings, there is no point in having a legislature at all.
This is the definition of mob rule.
We won’t have a deliberative body to consider legislation. We will just have endless, shouting, mob interruptions with no parliamentary procedures being followed.
