We were in Iraq for years.

If the goal is to completely destroy everything, both Russia and the US have the firepower to wipe countries off the map.

Russia never wanted to do that.

They wanted to annex the Donbass region. Ukraine killed 14,000 of its own people there, broke the Minsk Accord, and overthrew a duly elected leader to install the puppet Zelensky, all at the behest of the US.

Why do people think Zelensky is so arrogant in demanding support from us? He’s fighting a proxy war with Russia on our behalf.

WE started this war, not Russia.
WE are the warmonger in this conflict, not Russia.
WE are the ones who quashed peace talks in April of last year, not Russia.

I have lost all faith in our government and yet again, the media is pushing lies.

No, Russia’s goal this time last year was the total conquest of Ukraine under the proposal that it wasn’t a ‘real country’.

That narrative was endlessly parroted here by the Russian troll farm and they made clear this was never intended to be a limited war.

ThewriteTx Ukraine killed 14,000 of its own people there,

That is a false statement

During Russia’s 2014-2021 military operations against Ukraine, 14,500 people died in the Donbas war. Of that 14,000, 3,404 were civilians, 4,400 were Ukrainian servicemen and 6,500 were Russian militants.

The figure Putinistas use, 14000, is the total number of casualties incurred in the Donbas war by both sides.

Data obtained from the reports of the so-called “Commissioner for Human Rights in the Donetsk People’s Republic” show casualty figures even lower than those of the United Nations. In a 2020 report the total losses of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) since the start of the war in Donbas are estimated to be 4,959. This is the figure that is officially recorded by the DPR “legislature”.

The report also claims that the majority of deaths occurred in 2014-2015, when 2,546 and 1,395 died respectively. In subsequent years the number of casualties in the Donbas war has significantly decreased. In 2016, 348 people were killed, in 2017 – 278, in 2018 – 154, in 2019 – 160 people. In 2020, 44 people died, marking the lowest casualty rate for the entire period of the armed conflict -- and that was mainly people dying from RUSSIAN land-mines

The number of deaths among the civilian population, which the “ombudsman” of the DPR cites in his reports, in recent years show only isolated cases of local populations’ deaths. In 2017, the number civilian casualties were 32, in 2018 – 19, in 2019 – 9, and in 2020 – 5 people. As these statistics attest, even official bodies of the self-proclaimed republics do not confirm the “mass destruction of the civilian population of the republics by Ukrainian Armed Forces.

You do realize that the ethnic cleansing was done by Putin's Russia, right?

Look at the deaths since 2014

Last year we housed Ukrainian refugees who came from the area around Kyiv

They were and are Russian speakers - just like Zelenskyy

They come from a Russian speaking area of Ukraine, they spoke Russian at home. Naturally, they felt no persecution at all, because Ukraine does not persecute people because of the language they speak. They all said, that persecution of Russian speakers in Ukraine is absolute BS, nobody is being persecuted for speaking Russian.

Russian occupied territory, on the other hand, is very different. We have evidence from people, who were thrown in concentration camps for saying a word of Ukrainian. People were killed for having a Ukrainian flag.

And last, but certainly not least, the Russians in occupied territories of Ukraine, in a very Nazi fashion, burned all the books in Ukrainian. Yes, they burned books in Ukrainian on a number of occasions.

===========

Next, look at the 14,000 killed in the Donbas conflict from 2014 to Feb 2022 -- civilians numbers 3,500 and evenly distributed on both sides of the conflict

25% of civilians killed were due to separatist land mines

Go back and check the veracity of the russian sites you are reading

Keeping this in mind, you really should stop repeating your false statements, TheWriterTX

They wanted to annex the Donbass region

If they wanted to do that, then they should have annexed the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic --> but Putin did not. He kept a frozen conflict

And he then attacked Kyiv with his elite VDV paratroopers.

So, no, Putin's aim was not just to annex the Donbas region

TheWrite broke the Minsk Accord

The Minsk Protocol, was drafted in 2014 by the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, consisting of Ukraine, Russia, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). After extensive talks in Minsk, Belarus, the agreement was signed on 5 September 2014 by representatives of the Trilateral Contact Group and, without recognition of their status, by the then-leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR).

Minsk 1
The following representatives signed the document:

Swiss diplomat and OSCE representative Heidi Tagliavini
Former president of Ukraine (July 1994 to January 2005) and Ukrainian representative Leonid Kuchma
Russian Ambassador to Ukraine and Russian representative Mikhail Zurabov
Rebel heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky

Minsk 2
The document was signed by:

Separatist’s leaders Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky
Swiss diplomat and OSCE representative Heidi Tagliavini
Former president of Ukraine and Ukrainian representative Leonid Kuchma
Russian Ambassador to Ukraine and Russian representative Mikhail Zurabov

Russia signed both and violated both

The Minsk agreements came AFTER Russia violated its signed Budapest agreements to respect Ukraine’s borders.

Russia breaks agreements.

Russia has always violated international treaties and agreements. For centuries, Russia has been waging an aggressive war against its neighbors, carrying out aggression against countries, including with which Russia has agreements “On Peace, Friendship, Good Neighborliness”. Russia attacked Poland and Finland in 1939, Russia invaded Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania in 1940, Afghanistan in 1979, and with each of these countries Russia had an agreement “On Peace, Good Neighborliness, Recognition of Borders”. Russia has violated all treaties and agreements throughout its history.

Russia recognized all the current borders of Ukraine and signed a number of international treaties and agreements on this.

1. “Budapest memorandum” of December 5, 1994, one of the articles of which reads: “4.1. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm to Ukraine their commitment, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the CSCE, to respect the independence, sovereignty and existing borders of Ukraine.”

2. “Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine”, signed in Kiev on May 31, 1997: “Article 2. High Contracting Parties in accordance with the provisions of the UN Charter and obligations under the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe respect each other’s territorial integrity and reaffirm the inviolability of the borders existing between them.”

3. “Treaty between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Russian-Ukrainian state border”, signed in Kiev on January 28, 2003, according to which Crimea was and remains an integral part of Ukraine.

Moscow, which unleashed an aggressive war, seized the Ukrainian Crimea and part of the Ukrainian Donbass, and also killed more than 14 thousand people, killed the passengers of the Boeing flight MH17. Russia constantly demands that Ukraine does not strengthen its army and does not seek to join NATO, because Putin does not want the victim of his aggression to be able to defend himself.
