The US Air National Guard is preparing for the largest movement of forces across the Atlantic Ocean in its history. The service will send 100 aircraft to the US to take part in the Air Defender 2023 military exercise.
Here's What We Know The upcoming exercise will take place from June 12 to 22.
They are designed to demonstrate the US Air National Guard's ability to quickly deploy and use forces across Europe in the event that war in Ukraine spreads to NATO countries. Lieutenant General Michael Loh made the announcement.
The United States will send approximately 100 aircraft to Germany for the 10-day exercise. They include fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters, upgraded fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft and the older F-15C Eagle along with the legendary A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft. They will be supported by Pegasus air refuelers.
Air Defender 2023 will be the first exercise in which Finland, as a NATO member, will participate. It has not yet received F-35 Lightning II fifth-generation fighters, so it will send F/A-18 Super Hornets. Ingo Gerhartz, Lieutenant General of the German Air Force, announced about it.
The German military officer reminded that Germany ordered F-35 fighters in 2022. Deliveries will start in 2027 and pilots will go to the US for training in 2026. The deal to buy 35 aircraft was worth $8.85bn.

You got nuttier and now you have gone internet childish.
Your weirdness on the NATO membership might be the strangest thing I have ever seen at FR.
We were waiting to hear Hungary’s and Turkey’s acceptance as normally you need all members to ratify a new member. It appears thus far that only 28 have and they’ve called it good.
You don’t find that weird? I’m the weird one, yet they make up the rules as they go because they’re hell bent on war? You seem ok with your kids dying as you you’ve said nothing to the contrary. I find that highly weird and quite frankly disturbing as to the crassness of throwing away your own family for Biden and the other global elites. Are you receiving kickbacks too? Maybe you’re into child trafficking? Maybe you’re heavily invested in some biolabs? I don’t know, but you seem ok with it all.
I just want the damn war to end. It’s a colossal waste of life and yet the west keeps pushing it. If that makes me weird, so be it. I’ve seen war, I’m not a real big fan.
Good Lord who’s the retard here?
You.
“”We were waiting to hear Hungary’s and Turkey’s acceptance as normally you need all members to ratify a new member. It appears thus far that only 28 have and they’ve called it good.””
As I’ve said, you must be pulling our leg, no one is as stupid as you are pretending to be.
Fancy words.
I care not what you think to be truthful. I only care that I don’t get drug into a war I don’t want nor my brothers or my children.
Do as you will, but I will worry about my own backyard. Also, keep your hands out of my pockets for paying for any of this crap too. That I will defend very harshly.
Yeah, his deflection and subject-changing are Olympic-level.
2009 wasn’t a good year for FR sign-ups.
My comment was that Finland was now a member of NATO.
Your response? “Wow, and we call Russia the aggressor?”
Are you daft? Finland sought to join NATO precisely because Russia WAS the aggressor!
“At one time, we had a chance. Just 7 years ago, we could have put down the weapons and ushered in a new era of trust and peace.”
You live in a Pollyanna world.
Last time Grossman and I talked, we were on the same page, and we concurred with our thoughts on present day events including possible future ones. Ask him how dumb I am, perhaps he can weight in for you.
Otherwise, I really don’t give a damn what you think. I think you warmongering fools are batcrap crazy to the point where if you were to discuss in person, I’d likely deliver an open hand slap to try to instill some sense into you. The amount of retarded people on this site who are ok with a war in Ukraine is absolutely insane and supported by people of low average intelligence incapable of common sense thought. Don’t forget to vote your guy Biden in again, he’s doing wonders for your agenda.
It’s hilarious and scary at the same time.
Deploy them to Taiwan!
Finland joins NATO in historic shift, Russia threatens ‘counter-measures’
All because Russia told whomever in Nato was listening, that he would not stand still while NATO moves ever closer to Russias borders. WE are the aggressors, and Ukraine is the sacrificial lamb. We in the West are the bad guys, there is no other way to see it.
Who are we to interfere in Ukraine? Seriously, what national interest is there in this?
“All because Russia told whomever in Nato was listening, that he would not stand still while NATO moves ever closer to Russias borders.”
You do know that Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2014, right? And that Russia’s most recent invasion began on February 24, 2022, right? And that Finland and Sweden didn’t seek to join NATO until May, 2022, right? And that May, 2022 is AFTER February, 2022, right?
As the libtards say it, you are on the wrong side of history. Ukraine and what happens after is the hill America dies on.
Our money is all but gone, without money nobody builds weapons, and when the SHTF on all of this, China and Russia will ORDER us to turn our naval ships into scrap, like the US did to England after WW 1.
Tell me why? Why are we going to war over Ukraine v Russia? WW 3 for what? To defend people who absolutely HATE US, but love our money. Which after the $ falls, they will hate us out loud.
“As the libtards say it, you are on the wrong side of history.”
Nice try, son.
“Ukraine and what happens after is the hill America dies on.”
Again, nice try.
“Our money is all but gone, without money nobody builds weapons, and when the SHTF on all of this, China and Russia will ORDER us to turn our naval ships into scrap, like the US did to England after WW 1.”
You know NOTHING of history. We didn’t “order” Britain to do anything. The fact is that there was something called the Five-Power Naval Limitation Treaty which limited the total number and tonnage of naval capital ships (20,000 tons standard displacement or carrying guns with a caliber exceeding 8 inches) which each country could keep. The five nations were: Britain; the US, France, Italy; and Japan. Per the treaty, Britain retained the most tonnage.
