Tesla has a horrible design for battery replacement. It’s practically part of the car’s frame. Musk called it “structural battery”.
I would be more worried about the cars in FRONT of me in the line.
You notice, in TV commercials, you only see drivers UNPLUGGING the charger nozzle from their car. There’s never any info on how long they sat at the “pump”.
Fine, put ‘em in the back forty of the parking lots, not close up to the store entrance.
Let those EV driving Soybois walk to the entrance.
We have a winner.
“Walmart getting a kick back from this?”
Walmart’s Federally subsidized charging stations, via the “Anti-Inflation Act”. I will eat my hat if this is not the case.
the “Anti-Inflation Act” was in reality a huge Greenie giveaway of a trillion dollars. And another trillion for other rubbish “investments” that will never pan out.
Insurers didn’t single out Tesla. They don’t want to pay the liability of unknown damage to an EV battery after jarring in any collision. Totaling every EV after a fender bender is unsustainable.
One of the reasons that I can afford a $60,000 is because I shop at discount stores like Walmart. I’d not own an EV as I am a firm believer in the Second Law of Thermodynamics. That Law essentially says EVs are silly.
If you do a lot more trip driving than local driving you're 100% correct. Especially if you own just one car (thus it's either EV or ICE car, not both).
If my wife and I take the EV on a trip it takes 10-15 minutes to reach 80% at the chargers at Walmarts. And that's just on trips. If you count local driving it takes practically zero of our personal time by charging at home. So in our case, the difference between a 15-minute charge up or two on trips vs 5-minute fill up on trips isn't enough to offset the fact that we don't have one or two 5-minute fill ups every week for local driving. And we have an ICE pickup on hand we do a little of our driving in (i.e. pickup chores, or if my wife and I have to drive separate directions for the day, or trips in which an EV wouldn't be wise to take). So we're not vested all in on EV's or all in on ICE cars. We have one of each to use as we see fit each day.
In our case on most days driving the EV is better than the ICE pickup because I implemented a plan of weaning ourselves from the Dims' stupid war on energy and spiking energy costs by installing a lot of solar and making our house all electric. Doing most of our driving in the EV is an extension of that 80% energy independence from our home into our driving (at least for local driving). If I wasn't trying so hard to escape the Dims' energy policies I probably wouldn't have gotten an EV.
But that's viewing EV's from a free market lens like the few EV owners here on FR. The forcing of EV's by the Dims is both stupid and anti-American.
Credit for Electric Chargers Installed at Your Home or Business
Prior to the Inflation Reduction Act a tax credit was available for electric charging stations put in place by businesses and main homes prior to January 1, 2022. The new law extends the credit for charging stations put in service before January 1, 2033.

They have Walmarts with gas stations. So no reason not to add charging. Fueling cars is revenue. That’s what business is about.
Give us an update when your next EV insurance premium renewal approaches.
Cool...you can browse Walmart for a couple of hours while your car gets enough juice to get you home to your overnight charger.

I walk right by the guy or gal checking receipts with my five or six 70” flat panel tvs.
“Where’s the electricity come from?”
You technical guys drive us libs crazy! Why would you ask that question?
"We'll make power plants that run on electricity. Duhhh!"
Will the charging stations rely on solar panels and windmills for electricity? Or will they rely on coal or fossil fuel power plants?
5,300 US stores with 50 cars in the parking lot at any given time = 265,000 cars.
