James Olson, the spy agency's former chief of counterintelligence, said he believes the sharks are now circling for the tyrant back home in Russia.
Olson said that Putin is now in a "no win" situation - with the war either devolving into a grinding statelemate, or ending with Vlad's death.
He said if Putin stays in power he will never give up the war - and so the way to end it is for Vlad to be killed or ousted.
Olson, who served for over 30 years in the CIA and won medals for his service, explained that things don't look good for Putin - with either his oligarch pals, his military, or even his people set to turn on him.
"If Putin stays in power, there will be a long war because he will not give up - but I do not think that Putin is going to stay in power. I believe that he will be removed from power.
"I believe that there is a strong undercurrent of opposition to Putin in the military, in the intelligence services, among the oligarchs."
Putin is known to live in fear of an uprising or internal coup - allegedly being obsessed with the toppling and subsequent killing of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
Olson went on: "Putin is destroying Russia. I believe there are some good Russians, some patriotic Russians who will decide enough is enough.
"I think Putin will be taken out. I would not rule out assasination.
"I think it is actually likely that some patriotic Russians will decide they need to eliminate Putin.
"And that would be the end of the war. Because the Russian people are suffering and they are losing people. Putin is bleeding Russia and he cannot do that forever."

I have heard near the exact same remarks and ‘guarantees’ for the last 14 months, and still, nothing has changed for the average Russian. They are running out of youth and 40 y/o’s to recruit. Maybe it will be the women’s turn very soon.
And wasn’t there an article a day or two ago stating that the Ukrainians are out of ammunition and running out of men and will soon have to consider ending this thing. The thing that wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did, with the amount of death heaped on the Ukrainian’s, all because Biden and the WEF want to see Putin gone.
Great podcast out there called RedPillRants. The host tells a group of young women, who are all on OnlyFans and think they’re super models(they are not, by any stretch) and who love to talk about feminism and being a ‘boss bitch’, about how Ukrainian women were allowed to leave Ukraine and continue their “hot girl summer” while no men between 16-60 were allowed to leave. Putin is the devil we know. The devil we don’t know may be worse. Thing is, when the Soviets ran the show, the leader wasn’t the actual leader. He had a cadre of people behind him who could remove him from power. Khrushchev was removed. There is no such power structure behind Putin. He is one man, and his problem is that he must micromanage everything because he has not invested any power in any lower people. This is one reason the war happened and why it went so badly. Xi is in the same, unenviable position. Nobody will bring them bad news. At least not the very few people who can even get in to see them.
Putin is a wimp. He will be replaced by a real Khrushchev type.
