Former President Donald Trump will not plead guilty or be handcuffed, his attorney Joe Tacopina told ABC’s “Good Morning America” following the news of his indictment.
A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Trump Thursday on charges related to his payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels, making him the first president in American history to be indicted. “I’m sure they’ll try to get every ounce of publicity they can from this thing,” Tacopina said Monday morning. “The president will not be put in handcuffs.”
“I’m sure they’ll try to get some joy out of this by parading him,” he continued, adding that Secret Service and New York police would not “allow this to become a circus.”
“This is unprecedented in this country’s history,” Tacopina said when asked what to expect by host George Stephanopoulos. “I don’t know what to expect other than an arraignment.”
“I understand that they are going to be closing off blocks around the courthouse,” he continued. “We’ll go in there, and we’ll proceed to see a judge at some point, plead not guilty, start talking about filing motions, which we will do immediately and very aggressively.”
Tacopina also said the former president was initially “shocked” at hearing the news.
“I feel like the rule of law died yesterday in this country, and it’s not something that I’m happy about,” Tacopina said.
Trump’s indictment occurred two weeks after he announced that he expected to be arrested.
“Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done,” Trump said in a statement reacting to the indictment Thursday night. “The Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent, who just so happens to be a President of the United States and by far the leading Republican candidate for President, has never happened before. Ever.”
They reached an agreement last week that he would not be handcuffed. He will have a mug shot- who would have thought he’d be arrested before Hillary or Bill...
Who’d have thought any city would elect someone like Bragg who’d pull such a stunt? I hope tourism plummets.

My bet is that there will be a couple dozen screaming leftists egging on law enforcement to cuff him and perp walk him, and the secret service will pull trump out before the riot takes place or the handcuffing.
the cops will say in order to keep the crowd manageable, can we just put the cuffs on you loosely?
the cops will not be able to control the hostile left... they want blood.
He should insist on being handcuffed so he could get pictures of him giving the thumbs-up sign or V for victory, and then raising his hands over his head like the winning boxer.

No guilt exists, as there is no valid charge of criminality in the whole bundle of assertions being presented by DA BRAGG.
DA BRAGG is blowing smoke up his own, uh, rectal orifice.
Fake rap sheet does not a valid indictment make.

The judge DESPISES Trump and i believe is married to some other high profile DEMOCRAT!
He will have a huge smile for his mugshot.
It is no accident that this is happening during Holy Week...IMO.
Trump will insist on being hand-cuffed imo. He might even feign “pain” as they’re snapped on for effect.
Is there an underground parking or Helopad on top of the roof? He should NOT go in through the front doors.
Wonder how much Trump paid to arrange that? Talk about serendipity.
And the left was so looking forward to sharing the picture of a hand-cuffed Trump. Trump is going to use his mugshot for campaigning and the left is not going to be able to deal with that. The prosecutors will probably request that the Judge enter an order preventing him from using his own mugshot in social media posts or campaign ads.
They will probably ask that he be issued a gag order so the left and their media mega-phones will be able to speak about his indictment constantly and Trump will be unable to respond.
