Millions for his mugshot: Trump backers see indictment propelling him to the presidency
The Washington Times ^ | Sunday, April 2, 2023 | Susan Ferrechio

A surge in support. Packed rallies. Millions in campaign cash raised off a mug shot.

That’s just some of the optimistic thinking from former President Donald Trump’s supporters who say his indictment by a notoriously liberal district attorney in New York City will help propel him to the presidency in 2024.

While many Democrats are celebrating the indictment, polls already show the public is dubious about Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s motives for handing down dozens of charges against Mr. Trump over hush money payments he allegedly made to adult performer Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal seven years ago.

A Quinnipiac University Poll released Wednesday, a day before the former president was indicted, found more than 6 in 10 Americans think Mr. Bragg’s case against Mr. Trump “is mainly motivated by politics.”

Supporters said Mr. Trump will enjoy a surge in fundraising and poll numbers now that he has been indicted and is headed for an unprecedented fingerprinting and mugshot in New York City on Tuesday in what many say is a politically motivated effort by the left to take down the GOP’s top 2024 presidential candidate.

“The indictment motivated me to financially contribute to President Trump’s 2024 campaign,” Robert, a voter in Clinton Township, Michigan, told The Washington Times.

Republican political consultant Alex Bruesewitz, who is president of the Trump-aligned XStrategies, said the Bragg indictment will cement GOP support behind Mr. Trump, who has consistently led a field of declared and possible GOP candidates but has a strong competitor in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“There is no path for anyone other than Trump to win the nomination,” Mr. Bruesewitz told The Washington Times. “Even Trump-Haters are beginning to come to that conclusion. We can’t reward Alvin Bragg’s abuse of the system.”

I don't. But no matter the candidate, it will drive Republicans to the polls.

And it may even be that Dems wise up and see the damage that Obama and Biden have wrought.

And the trash in the White House came right out and said they’ll interfere with the election if Trump is nominated.

Well, duh. Didn’t Bragg run for office on the platform of ‘getting Trump and his family?’

Non disclosure agreements are not illegal nor are they uncommon. The University of WA used an NDA to settle a law suit brought by Asian students, after UW offered in-state tuition to illegal aliens, but not to legal aliens, from Asia, who were here on a student visa. Asian students won and were repaid back tuition if they agreed to sign a non-disclosure agreement. NDAs are used all the time, both in business and relationships. Heck, the Epstein girls signed one after the Florida court settlement. Evidently, the NDA did apply to Prince Andrew.

For the leftists who think a Trump indictment is good politics, I have two words: MARION BARRY.

His celebrity was transformed into international notoriety in January 1990, when he was videotaped during a sting operation smoking crack cocaine and was arrested by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials on drug charges. The arrest and subsequent trial precluded Barry from seeking re-election, and he served six months in a federal prison. After his release, he was elected to the Council of the District of Columbia in 1992. He was elected again as mayor in 1994, serving from 1995 to 1999.

Some say that suburban white women are the single most "fluid" bloc of voters and that this indictment will turn many of them against DJT. Given what I see in my 99% white, relatively affluent, suburb I'm tempted to agree.

The communists have so completely perverted our justice (and elections) systems ! They’ve destroyed the liberties and the dreams of Americans —- so much that we may never recover. First, we must regain control of “our” government — which won’t be easy since they’ve rigged the entire election system in seven or eight key states

When did Biden say that? I would like to see his whole speech or whatever came before he said what he said. Was there a question from a reporter? Not that I don’t believe he is talking about President Trump, but I just want to see the context.

The charges and media excitement will turn loose some guy who’s being groomed and supported by the FBI to do a “well he had it coming from a crazy person” hit job. Then that guy will be taken out. Pretty standard operation for our diseased bureaucracies within the Beltway. They have been up to the lesser lethal version of this since 2015. The courts and institutions of government haven’t lifted a finger to stop it. They even give performance bonuses to the best and brightest Trump attack dogs.

Don't think these charges will change anyone's mind about Trump. As for suburban white women, they decided in 2020 against ever supporting Trump, and Trump will not win their vote in 2024.

There are a few articles out there and those came up with just a cursory search. I’m sure further digging will yield more.

Here’s one.

Trump won in ‘20. If he wins again the outcome will remain the same unless the counting is fixed.

I just don’t see how we vote our way out of this given the GOPe cowardice.
