Manhattan garage worker charged with attempted murder after shooting thief

A Manhattan parking garage attendant who was shot twice while confronting an alleged thief — then wrestled the gun away and opened fire on the suspect — has been charged with attempted murder, police and sources said.

The overnight worker, identified by cops as Moussa Diarra, 57, was also hit with assault and criminal possession of a weapon charge in the Saturday incident, which unfolded around 5:30 a.m. as the attendant saw a man peering into cars on the second floor of the West 31st Street garage, the sources said.

Believing the man was stealing, the attendant brought him outside and asked what was inside his bag.

Instead of cooperating, the man pulled out a gun, the sources said.

Diarra tried to grab for the weapon, and it went off — leaving him shot in the stomach and grazed in the ear by a bullet before he turned the firearm on the would-be thief and shot him in the chest, sources said.

The charges against Diarra sparked outrage — and recalled the case of Manhattan bodega clerk Jose Alba, who was charged with murder after a fatal July 1 confrontation in his store with an angry customer who came behind his counter and accosted him.

"Moussa Diarra" sounds like an African name.

If so, African immigrants are one of the most hated by many black Americans.

But if the crook had killed the janitor, he would be roaming streets free now. No charges for those people.

NYC DA is crazy, letting criminals free and prosecuting innocents.

I’ll never understand the “interest” the government has in this. Guy killed a thief, that’s it, government shouldn’t care.

OK everybody, I might get seriously flamed, but if you read the WHOLE article, it says that COPS brought the charge and DA Bragg actually dropped it, albeit due to intense public pressure.

All for attacking Soros minions, but it needs to be done with facts, which include "the rest of the story".

Businesses are getting pissed at their government in New York.

They can vote red but it won't matter. NYC is like 75% Democratic.

You might want to read it again. Bragg dropped the charges against Jose Alba, another clerk charged previously for defending himself, not this guy.

Fat Albert Bragg needs to resign. The garage attendant should be given a medal instead.

“how much longer before people start taking revenge on these DA’s and their extended families?”

Not soon enough.

OK, I stand corrected and apologize. Now I can MF Bragg with a clear conscience.

HE DISARMED the perp-——after HE was shot twice-—Somehow turned the gun back on the attacker perp.

This is outrageous

Bragg should be charged with malfeasance, misfeasance, perjury, facilitation etc. Just as his charges against Trump are so ridiclulous.

Any time FReepers wonder why someone won’t intervene in a crime? Prosecution like this is the reason.

This guy’s life is basically over. Even if he somehow prevails against the charges and even succeeds in a hypothetical countersuit for malicious prosecution, he’ll be out of work and possibly in jail for years, lose all of his possessions when he gets evicted if he is in jail, and be flat broke because nobody will hire him.

Me either. I grew up there and escaped around 2011. There is not enough money in this universe to ever make me live in that toilet again.
