Russia says it will no longer share info with US about missile tests (no more advance warning!)

Russia said Wednesday it will no longer give the United States advance notice of its missile tests — a month after suspending its participation in the most recent nuclear arms agreement between the two countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters that Russia will halt the information exchange after suspending “implementation” of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START).

“There will be no notifications at all,” Rybakov said, according to Russian news agencies.

That’s okay, we will no longer share information about responses to Russian launches perceived as potential attacks.

Typically, when a test is conducted it is done at a test facility. Also, for several days prior various equipment is moved down range or otherwise activated. If the test is from a submarine, it is typically done inside a previously used test area and notice to shipping is given so as to keep civilian vessels out of danger. From these aspects this is just more saber rattling.

Conducting a test in other than the above circumstances could, potentially, result in a response that Russia would not want. I can see them trying to rattle the West, but not doing so in a way that would potentially get them incinerated. There’s brinksmanship and then there’s rampant stupidity. I can’t see the Russians being that level of stupid.

Not a good development.

It likely shows they have no intention of launching at us.

Why would they want our defenses on heightened alert?

Not surprised. Maybe Biden and his goons should have told Russia they were blowing up their gas pipeline.

I used to work on a project that used the same equipment as a project called Cobraball. Cobraball was a highly modified 707 stationed on Kiska, the last island in the Aleutians. The purpose of Cobraball was to monitor Soviet missile tests. SOMEHOW Cobraball was always able to get off the ground in plenty of time to monitor every missile test that took place. I have no idea how they managed that. *cough* Possibly, they had a crystal ball.

Any launch not announced as a test must be assumed as hostile. DEFCON 1 is the only logical response to a potential sneak attack by a cowardly country that routinely conducts sneak attacks.

Ryabkov literally said the exact opposite. That despite withdrawing from the treaty for various reasons, that they would still notify us of missile tests as per normal in the treaty. So who to believe? RT or NYT?

https://www.rt.com/russia/573864-start-us-nuclear-ryabkov/

Russia will continue to inform the US about its ballistic missile launches despite Moscow suspending its participation in the New START treaty, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has stated.

Russia placed its participation in the New START treaty – the last remaining nuclear accord with Washington – on hold in February.

Explaining the move, President Vladimir Putin said that the 2010 deal had been signed under different circumstances, when Russia and the US did not perceive each other as adversaries. The West had also denied Russian requests to inspect nuclear facilities even though this was allowed for under the treaty, Putin claimed.
