* Keshondra Turner, 53, was cooking in her soul food truck at 1pm on Tuesday when a man attempted to hold up the business and fire his weapon at her.
* The assailant's gun jammed allowing Turner time to reach for her firearm and shoot several rounds at the criminal.
* The 23-year-old would-be robber was declared dead on the scene and Turner was taken to a local hospital for a panic attack
A Texas grandma with a gun took down an armed robber Tuesday who had attempted to hold up her family-owned soul food truck. The woman, Keshondra Howard Turner, 53, was cooking around 1pm inside the 'Elite Eats and Cold Treats' truck in a Houston parking lot when a 23-year-old man drove up alongside the vehicle. The man asked what was on the menu, but as Turner attempted to show the man, he pulled a handgun on her and the other employee working in the truck.
The would-be assailant got out of his car and demanded cash. Turner quickly shut the food truck's open window, but the man forced it open, stuck his weapon inside the truck and tried to fire. The gun jammed, which was when Turner, who is licensed to carry a handgun, drew her own weapon and shot the man several times. The young man took a few steps back from the truck before collapsing about 50 feet away, which was where authorities found him and pronounced him dead.

Ah, yes. Rule #2: Double tap.
Do you run it wet?
FYI - Everyone’s heard “Don’t mess with Texas” but few, including me until 5 min. ago, know it was part of an anti-littering campaign. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Mess_with_Texas
If GA has a slogan, it’s now probably- “Want to make a movie with state help? Come on down!”
It won’t be dripping but it’ll be well lubricated that’s for sure.
I’ll also be dedicating spray cleaner and lube to my range bag. Things my dumbass should have known better to already have done.
Glad I could help.
Tom Gresham recommends dripping. It’ll dry out a bit after a few shots, and you’ll be well lubed, too.
They're easier to hit. And they don't wiggle around so much.
Man, traveling with a weapon needs careful planning. It's not something that I'd recomend without very careful planning.
Rule of thumb for this and many other reasons - drive around Illinois.
In the photo she looks happy and pleasant. There should be a medal and reward from the state in recognition for taking out the trash at personal risk.
The photo was probably taken well before the incident; but I agree, she looks like a nice lady. She is gainfully, entrepreneurially employed—more power to her for that, and prayers for her recovery from this trauma.
