JNS) After months of increasingly strident mass protests against his government’s plans to reform Israel’s out-of-control and highly partisan judicial system, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears to have given in to the pressure. He said he was going to be “delaying judicial reform to give real dialogue a chance.” But it’s highly doubtful that this will merely be a timeout that will help his supporters regroup and enable opponents to calm down and accept a compromise on the issue.
On the contrary, Netanyahu is waving the white flag on judicial reform—and everyone knows it. And since the ultimate goal of the protests was not just preventing legislation from being passed but to topple the government, it’s far from clear whether the prime minister can long stay in power after this humiliation since his allies are shaken and his opponents won’t be satisfied until he’s ejected from office.
Whether that will happen remains to be seen. But the one thing that is clear is that the consequences of the events of the last months go far beyond the future of the Israeli legal system.
Netanyahu’s announcement is leading to celebrations on the Israeli left as well as among their foreign supporters, especially in the Biden administration and liberal Jewish groups. And they have good reason to celebrate. The anti-Bibi resistance was able to sell the world a false narrative about their efforts being nothing more than a successful effort to defend democracy against the efforts of would-be authoritarians who wanted to create a fascist theocratic state.
But the notion that an uprising of the “people” has stopped a “coup” by Netanyahu and his allies is pure projection. .....

Unless the Israeli Left has figured out how to steal that, too.
In all fairness, Israel is divided along the same lines as this country is, and like this country, half seeks righteousness, and half does not. In Israel, the left seems to be ahead in power, but they are not. At some point, God will sort it out in both countries, but it is a matter of free will, and they (like us), have to decide if they will serve God or not. I hope they choose well, and I believe that they will. But to collectively condemn them as “all” is a false conclusion. Israel has a loooong history of rising to the occasion, fighting evil, and overcoming incredible odds, (in spite of themselves).
There’ll be more of it, now that they know that it pays. The new government will be paralyzed and fall in short order. Bibi makes great speeches, but he doesn’t know how to face down adversity. He folded for Obama. Now he’s folding for Brandon and for leftard protestors. He should retire or become ambassador to the UN. He’s not up to the job of PM.

Given that other governmental systems besides Islam and Communism existed before America and before the modern nation-state of Israel were formed, this smacks of hyperbole.
Bibi getting dealt a defeat on the matter of judicial reform may suck, but it's not the end of the world.

Not suggesting it is the end of the world. What I am suggesting is Israel and the Second Amendment are the only things that are keeping liberty alive, and as we are seeing, it is getting worse by the day.
Given that there is no true liberty without Jesus, I would argue that the 2nd Amendment and the secular state of Israel (not to be confused with the Kingdom of Israel or the people of Israel) aren't necessary when it comes to the concept of "keeping liberty alive." Liberty existed before America and Israel, and it'll exist afterwards for those who know true freedom through Him.
(Unless you have some other concept of liberty in mind.)

The real problem is Israel is an unmanageable democracy. A pure democracy form of government that is inherently unstable.
