Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that under present circumstances, Kiev is currently unable to launch a counteroffensive, blaming the situation on weapons shortage.
"We can't start yet. We can't send our brave soldiers to the front line without tanks, artillery and HIMARS [multiple launch rocket systems]," Zelensky said in an interview with Yomiuri Shimbun daily.
He continued, saying that the situation in the country's east is "unfavorable" and that Ukraine is currently waiting for its allies to supply it with weaponry.
This comes shortly after Zelensky beseeched European leaders to deliver lethal weapons at a faster rate than they are being delivered, as he addressed a gathering of his EU allies via video link from a Ukrainian train.
He further warned that any delays in sending fighter jets and long-range missiles could prolong the war.
It is worth noting that Ukraine has constantly pleaded with its Western allies to send modern warplanes and long-range missiles. However, most of Kiev's backers have so far refused to provide Western-made aircraft.
Supplying Ukraine with Western jets or allowing the use of foreign airfields by Ukrainian jets to attack Russian targets would, according to Russia, be considered "the involvement of these states in armed conflict." So far, this consideration has driven the US and NATO decision-making on how they aid Ukraine, which is why it seems that the West may back down on supplying Ukraine with fighter jets, at least for the time being.
Commenting on Zelenzky's remarks on Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron assured that EU leaders informed Zelensky that they would support Kiev.
EU leaders also backed on Thursday a plan to fasten the delivery of ammunition to Ukraine, the acquisition of artillery rounds in bulk, and the expansion of Europe's own military manufacturing capacity. The EU approved a $2.14 billion plan earlier this week to give Ukraine one million rounds of ammunition.
“”Speaking of his faux-military outfits - Zel wears a green coatume but he’s actaully a draft dodger.””
He dodged the draft that was implemented in 2014?
“Ukrainian male citizens who are physically qualified for military service, over 18 years old and older, but who have not reached the age of 25, and who have no right for exemption from military service” will be conscripted.”
Hmmm. What did the USA do for WWII, when we didn’t have enough weapons? Oh, that’s right -— we manufactured them! Does Ukraine not have any industrialization? No factories or natural resources?
They did, do you think the war and 13 months of missile attacks and the destruction of their infrastructure, and the desperate call-up of the population to fight the world’s second most powerful military from next door might have hindered some of that?
I would guess that with satellite, sigint, human intel the West has a better idea of what’s going on than Zelensky does. That accounts for the eagerness of some, Biden, to accelerate deliveries and the feeling of others to reduce, slow down or end deliveries.
The money sent to Zelensky is more then the Russian military budget. It is obvious the money went to bank accounts in the west for the politicians and not to weapons to fight the russians.
Zelensky didn’t even do his compulsory military service. His draft-dodging has long prompted jeers from political opponents.
Globo-trash Zel - is leading us to hell.. while you suckle him.

What draft? the one Ukraine started in 2014 for those under age 25?
Outside of that one writer’s saying it, there is nothing to support your claim.

How do you “launder off” 155mm?
There isn’t a global black market for this. It only goes in certain weapons, of which the usual suspects have few of them.
Not that many people have to feed M777 or M109. And certainly not in such numbers. This isnt 7.62x39.
Worse for, say, HIMARS. You need US help with the GPS coordinates to unlock the hi res mode. And most likely also for targeting.
It did, all the above. But a large fixed industrial facility is an easy target for cruise missiles.
The Ukrainians have, in some cases, moved critical manufacturing equipment and personnel elsewhere in Eastern Europe and set up shop there. And Euro aid has paid for manufacturing facilities already in Eastern Europe, left over from Soviet days to be reconditioned and brought back into service. That all is going to be an interesting story when it comes out.
That is all in behalf of ex-Soviet type artillery ammo. Most Ukrainian artillery is still the same as what the Russians are using.
But that’s only a partial fix. The incredible rate of usage is still way above such measures.
Think for one second, let’s say the 155mm shells cost $1000 per shell, Ukraine pays a company $2000 per shell, $1000 goes the manufacturer, $1000 goes into the pocket of someone and when you have no inspector general or anyone else auditing the situation, cheating is easy.
Same goes for any other weapons system, why do you think the powers in Washington steadfastly refuse to audit the over 100 million that has gone to Ukraine.
We left billions in Afghanistan, you think the MIC would have any problem stealing 40-50 billion from Ukraine or Ukraine steals it and funnels it back to pay off politicians in Washington.
