Nancy Pelosi Attacks San Francisco Archbishop Cordileone as Anti-LGBTQ, Anti-Woman

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi attacked San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone Thursday, calling him an “extreme” opponent of the LGBTQ community.

“How can I say this nicely? There’s just no way. We’ve had very, very negative anti-LGBTQ stuff coming from our archbishop and others,” Ms. Pelosi said during an event at Georgetown University’s Center on Faith and Justice:

Archbishop Cordileone “was responsible for putting on the ballot Proposition 8 because he had all this conservative money that put this on the ballot, something about marriage. I’m not exactly sure what it was, but we got rid of it later,” she continued, in reference to a 2008 ballot measure that sought to amend the California Constitution to define marriage as being between one man and one woman.

Hard to believe that ANYONE should expect a priest to be pro-gay. That is not the same as saying they should necessarily be protested against as persons with the same basic rights as other Americans....just not upheld as having any “special” rights.

As you say, a gay judge ruled Prop 8 unconstitutional. So the voters voted to amend the California constitution. When that was challenged, the democrat governor and democrat AG refused to defend it.

That’s how Nancy ‘got rid of it later’.

My landlord spends winters in Panama. He says that in almost all government buildings, there are scripture verses and crosses or crucifixes on walls and desks. Police have scripture verses in their cars.

In Sodom Calgary, a bylaw was rwcenrly passed by the local politbureau, er, city council, that prohibits protests within 100 metres of an entrance to a recreation facility or library and anywhere inside those facilities. This was done to prevent any more protests at 'family-friendly drag queen story times'.

Nancy’s problem is with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

I frequently listened to talks by pro-life Father Frank Pavone who was adamant about speaking the truth against abortions and politicians who were hypocrites. He was removed from the priesthood with recourse to appeal in 2022. He held advisory positions in the Trump campaign, and had to resign them. He had been labeled “a right-wing provocateur.”
