A source familiar with the matter suggested Bragg and his team "are having trouble convincing the jury to swallow the case."
The grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump for his alleged involvement in a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels on the eve of the 2016 election was told not to show up on Wednesday. However; it has been reported that they are set to reconvene on Thursday.
The news comes amid reports that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is "having trouble" convincing members of the grand jury to hear the case.
According to the Daily Mail, "After hearing evidence on Monday, jurors were told they were not needed on Wednesday, according to two sources familiar with the matter. However, a court official told DailyMail.com that they will sit again at noon on Thursday, when prosecutors 'may present one more witness'."
A source familiar with the matter suggested Bragg and his team "are having trouble convincing the jury to swallow the case," calling it "a weak case [that] has caused divisions in the DA's office."
Others have argued that the decision to delay the meeting with the jury was made to give Bragg time to reconsider his strategy.
Since they last met, new evidence has been uncovered including a bombshell letter from former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's office to officials at the Federal Election Commission stating that then-president Trump was not involved in the payment of alleged "hush money" to Stormy Daniels.
The letter, obtained by the Daily Mail, stated that it was Cohen who paid Daniels $130,000 out of his own pocket.
"Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford," the letter read, "and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly."
Cohen's team went on to explain that, "neither Mr. Cohen nor Essential Consultants LLC made any in-kind contributions to Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., or any other presidential campaign committee," nor was Cohen a government employee at the time.
Thus, they argued, "the payment in question does not constitute a campaign contribution or expenditure and, therefore, the FEC lacks jurisdiction over this matter."
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Pardon my ignorance, but I find use of the word “convincing” in this context to be offensive to my Constitutional sensibilities, considering that the grand jury “weighs” the evidence for lawful action.
The stupid leftists have been chanting for the last 6 years “We got him now...”!!!! How stupid does one have to be to not see through this charade? This is obviously third world politics-—come on! It’s so freaking obvious!
This is specifically Manhattan...”New York County”. Each borough is,under state law,its own county...Bronx,Queens,etc. Unless I’m mistaken the grand jurors only come from Manhattan, which is 95% Rat.
Not quite...it’s more like East Germany today. A little more subtle.
Bragg needs to go back to picking cotton balls for his massa, Georgie Soros, aka der kleine führer. He’s Soros’ newest big shot African but he’s wasting his time trying to pick off President Trump. A lot of people who are a heck of a lot smarter than him couldn’t overthrow Trump.
The Stormy Syndrome:
If Trump, then Congress and their “escort aides_ and x presidents next up.
Bragg is now in a ‘Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t’ situation.
If he gets the indictment, Trump and his legal team will make him look like a fool.
If he doesn’t get the indictment he WILL look like a fool.......................................
Ha!
They will try other things. There’s time for them to concoct some other “huge crisis” that they hope will bring Trump down. What will it be? They have already tried wet-the-bed-whore, Russian collusion, classified documents, phone call to Ukraine, deadly virus and payoff the whore.
What will they try now?
Well, he IS a FOOL, so the outcome should demonstrate that.
Seth Rich........................
Trump’s right.
Why won’t Bragg drop the case? There’s no there, there.
Only a fool would double-down now, or think one more witness will nail it.
You’re exactly right. Trump wins no matter what Soros’ Chumpmonk does. I guess Alvin isn’t as smart as he thought he was. The far-left Dung Beetles used him in hopes he could bring the white guilt crowd over to Georgie’s plantation. Time for a Plan B.
Here we are at the 11th hour, and Fat Alvin is getting cold feet or having issues convincing the jury. I just do not buy it. I think there is a much more simple explanation.
Fat Alvin has had all of this information, which is now the supposed reason for his current troubles. As many have opined, he is under no obligation to reveal exculpatory information to the grand jury. So if he did not - and by all accounts that is true - then he would have no jury issues at this point in time.
But he WOULD have to reveal exculpatory information to Trump following any indictment, and prior to an actual trial. Again, he knew this as well. So why, now, is this a problem for his prosecution of Trump?
It would make sense if Fat Alvin believed that only he and Cohen possessed this information, and that they could keep it hidden from Trump and his legal team. That is, they would illegally withhold Brady information from the defense.
When the former attorney for Cohen came forward on Monday with ALL of the information, and including a Cohen-signed attorney-client privilege waiver, Fat Alvin had is case blown apart. He is in a corner now, and his only hope is to beat a retreat, and try to salvage his reputation.
Behind the scenes, I would bet this was all driven from the Get Trump deep-state in DC, with promises made to Fat Alvin that he would be a made man (yes, Mafia reference) if he did this one thing.
a prosecutor cannot put on perjured testimony in a trial....so who is going to testify? Cohen is a convicted perjurer, and would be eaten alive on cross exam if they try and put him on the stand to testify.
“SOROS BACKED ANIMAL”
Bragg was an idiot before messing with Trump, this is all just confirmation.
