John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council at the White House, has stated that depleted uranium rounds are a common type of munition, and that Russia's claims that they are a step toward escalation are groundless.

The White House representative said that the United States is not providing Ukraine with depleted uranium munitions.
"There have been health studies done on depleted uranium munitions, it is not a radioactive threat, it is not anywhere close to going into the nuclear realm. This is a commonplace type of munition that is used particularly for its armour-piercing capabilities," he emphasised.
"If Russia is deeply concerned about the welfare of their tanks and tank soldiers, the safest thing for them to do is move them across the border, get them out of Ukraine," Kirby added.
Background: On Monday, the UK confirmed that it will supply Ukraine with depleted uranium rounds. Russian President Vladimir Putin later criticised the decision, falsely claiming that it was a weapon with a "nuclear component".
Depleted uranium is a waste product of the uranium enrichment process, which involves the separation of the uranium-235 isotope from natural uranium. Due to its high density, depleted uranium is also used in the armour of military vehicles (in particular, M1 Abrams tanks) and armour-piercing rounds.
NATO countries are known to have used munitions containing depleted uranium during the Kosovo operation, which is why they were accused of increasing the incidence of leukaemia.
However, according to experts, such rounds existed in the Soviet Union, and Russian troops have already used them in Ukraine during the full-scale war. In addition, there is no reason to believe that depleted uranium is related to nuclear weapons, as Putin has claimed.
All Soros/NWO/FJB gazzlight, all the time.
Why would the Russians or another sane leader take advise from the Biden regime?
We used depleted uranium munitions in Iraq. It is slightly radioactive, less than naturally occurring uranium ore. One hazard is that while very heavy, it is subject to spalling and producing dust upon impact, which can be inhaled by anyone in the immediate vicinity, which could be significantly harmful to health over time.
It was sarcasm.
LOL, so our idea of winning in Ukraine is to make it a nuclear wasteland. I suspect Russia wouldn’t mind that outcome and just may join in the fun, probably starting with throwing a bit of ‘dirt’ on Kiev.

One would expect this is the issue.
There are many low level radioactive isotopes or whatever, that are otherwise completely harmless insofar as the radiation produced is such cannot penetrate human skin.
If it were somehow ingested, or breathed into the lungs in the form of dust, then that is a very different matter and could fairly quickly cause various cancers.
This is the objection to depleted uranium munitions, and it is certainly something that should not be denied or glossed over, because there are people who know better. If an idiot like me out here in the cheap seats is aware of this, there are a lot more people out there in important posts and positions that will not be persuaded by bullshit boilerplate from a spokeshole.
Thanks for the warning
Looked, shouldn’t have.....
What a freaking mess.
The VA doesn’t think it is much of a problem and that includes vets with some still inside of them.
Twenty-five years of studying them.
Wow. Lies. I’m shocked.
The pictures of the Iraqi babies were heartbreaking. The American haphazard use of Depleted Uranium munitions in the UNNECESSARY Iraq War is a discredit to our nation. I notice that we’re supplying this ammunition to the Ukrainians for them to use in the ethnic Russian & Russian speaking Donbas area so THAT is where the resulting pollution will be left to affect that population.
Would they want to use that weaponry in the ethnic Ukrainian areas of Ukraine (i.e., western Ukraine)? I doubt it.
Well, OK.
I’d just point out they famously didn’t think Agent Orange was a problem either, or Gulf War syndrome, or Shell Shock, among other things. There’s an awful lot of “no problem here” when some entity is on the hook for cash payments or a lifetime of service connected care.
The Russians can prevent their tanks from being destroyed by depleted uranium slugs. They can move the tanks to Novosibirsk.
Perhaps we should learn back from what happened in Iraq

Like him or hate him (or be indifferent) that’s why Putin removed as many women and children out of eastern Ukraine as he could.
If they were ethnic Russians he was saving Russians which for him is a big thing.
If they were ethnic Ukrainian it would be more difficult to make the case he was murdering women and children.
I’m sure you don’t get to the top position of any nation by being a nice guy, but at least he knew not to repeat the mistakes of America by handing the other side a propaganda victory. You can bet pictures like these are on international media.
“”If Russia is deeply concerned about the welfare of their tanks and tank soldiers, the safest thing for them to do is move them across the border, get them out of Ukraine,” Kirby added.”
That teenage girl worthy snark is what we get today from a retired US Navy Admiral. Our pussified military at it again.
