I’d just point out they famously didn’t think Agent Orange was a problem either, or Gulf War syndrome, or Shell Shock, among other things. There’s an awful lot of “no problem here” when some entity is on the hook for cash payments or a lifetime of service connected care.
My senior class advisor in ROTC was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam, and died from cancer about 15 years ago. He was a fantastic officer and a great man.
I had a football coach who went through shell shock in Nam. He regained his balance pretty quick, and a hearing aid solved the rest the problem. He didn’t complain.
