The police who responded to a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, last May held off on confronting the shooter inside the classroom out of concern over the AR-15 rifle he used, according to a report.
A new investigation from the Texas Tribune found that officers decided that “immediately confronting the gunman” and the assault-style weapon “would be too dangerous,” although some of the officers on-scene were equipped with the same rifle.

Why?
Feminized culture.
IDK about this. But what I have been told by locals is that the Chief was working with the Feds, but the rank and file officers were told this was an exercise and not to move until told to do so. They were told it was a training exercise.
IDK. FWIW.
There’s an episode of “Adam-12” in which Reed and Malloy are faced with an active shooter. They call in for bullet-proof vests. The contraptions that the sergeant brings them look like an X-ray techs apron.
Yeah. Handguns are capable of minute-of-bad-guy accuracy to 100 yards, with practice. Oregon’s Measure 114 10 round restriction is still in judicial limbo. I hope it’s struck down.
Need to arm those who actually care about their own lives and the lives of the children they're responsible for.
If I were a cop I’d be ashamed to admit this. First because it’s an admission of cowardice. Second because it exposes an ignorance. In close quarters and at short range the AR does not have a decisive advantage over a powerful hand gun operated by a qualified marksman, especially in superior numbers.
Once again the gun gets the blame.
Marshmellow cowards listening to these little children get massacred by this puke, you will have to answer for this. How do they sleep at night?
I can’t. I’ll never understand how one lunatic kept almost 400 first-responders at bay without ascribing some choice character flaws.
See post #48.
”In the rear, with the gear.”
I am surprised they could hold that woman back since there were one a few dozen men present.
Some “ORDERS” are issued by COWARDS and made to be IGNORED.
This was one of those orders, and only COWARDS would have obeyed it!
That's what my dad told my brother and me...for decades!
“immediately confronting the gunman” and the assault-style weapon “would be too dangerous,”
Any more dangerous than a 116 year old rifle like this Remington M8 made in 1906?

I had to buy my own body armor, but the Department would replace it every couple of years at no cost to me. They didn’t try to collect their latest replacement when I retired from the Department.
“How would they know what kind of rifle he had - unless they “confronted” him, and/or had a clear shot at him?”
Regardless, intimidating “blind” fire/ricochets from police would have taken SOME toll on that horrific murderer.
I would be much more worried about one of my 30.06’s than my AR’s, just sayin
Chicken shit!
MAC 90 against a 9mm pistol.
