The police who responded to a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, last May held off on confronting the shooter inside the classroom out of concern over the AR-15 rifle he used, according to a report.
A new investigation from the Texas Tribune found that officers decided that “immediately confronting the gunman” and the assault-style weapon “would be too dangerous,” although some of the officers on-scene were equipped with the same rifle.

“over the AR-15 rifle he used”
What a liar and coward. A typical hunting rifle (which is more powerful than .223/5.56mm) will defeat Kevlar. Even some pistols like the FN 5.7 and Tokarev can do it.
Maybe they thought the shooter was also using cop killer bullets or even worse, armor piercing rounds.
Why? Because they are cowards.
The force was neglectful in running scenarios about such an event. They were caught with their pants down because of something that they should have been able to deal with.
Brown ditched his bicycle and ordered the gunman to drop his weapon. When Mellberg turned and shot at him, Brown dropped into a combat crouch and returned fire with his 9mm Beretta M9 semiautomatic pistol. He fired four rounds at Mellberg; two missed, one hit him in the shoulder and one struck him between the eyes, instantly ending his homicidal rampage. The drum magazine in Mellberg’s MAK-90 still held 19 rounds of ammunition.
I spent a few years as a volunteer firefighter. During that time I realized not all firemen are brave. Doesn’t matter if they are paid or volunteer. Had a paid lieutenant that was afraid of thunder. Acted fairly uncomfortable around smoke also.
Same for the people in law enforcement. Not all are brave.
Excuses, excuses……
Nepotism hires. Incompetent cowards that feel they only should eat donuts.
Cowardly faggots!!
these guys would have been shot by our side at Normandy.
Cowards.
Trying to worm out of culpability by blaming the firearm used by the sicko is even worse.
I don't follow the story, so I don't know if law suits are in progress, or even possible. But they should be.

They are still trying to think up excuses. The actual truth is probably something closer to they wanted a higher body count. It seems cruel but really they don’t believe that human life has a transcendent and intrinsic value because they don’t believe in the divine. What are a few lives in the advancement of the cause of gun control? They think those who died are like martyrs.
It had a shoulder thing that goes up. End of story.
In the end it was an off duty Border Patrol agent, they have M-4s but he did not have one because he was off duty.
Didn't stop him. Getting shot to protect chidden being killed was worth the risk times 10.
They weren’t able to use that weapon because everyone was afraid they “might shoot their eye out.”
