Former President Donald Trump experienced yet another boost this week amid rumors of a looming arrest, the latest Morning Consult survey, released Tuesday, found.
This week’s Morning Consult survey demonstrates gains for the former president, as he now has 54 percent support — up from 52 percent recorded last week. Meanwhile, his closest potential competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, lost two points, going from 28 percent to 26 percent. In other words, Trump’s lead jumped from +24 to +28 in the last week:
No other potential candidate comes close, as former Vice President Mike Pence remained consistent, coming in third place with seven percent support. Presidential candidate Nikki Haley followed with four percent support, and former Rep. Liz Cheney came one point behind with three percent support. No other potential candidate saw greater than one percent support.
Morning Consult described Trump’s lead as such:
Trump Continues to Lead DeSantis: As Trump awaits potential indictment on charges related to a 2016 hush money scheme with adult-film star Stormy Daniels, he has posted one of his largest polling leads in the 2024 Republican primary. The latest survey shows 54% of potential primary voters support the former president, compared with 26% who are backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, tying his expected opponent’s lowest level of support since tracking began in December.

Does anyone believe poll results about a year out? Way to much time to go right now.
DeSantis chose poorly. Going up against Trump and 75 million America first folks, was not a real good idea.
Did some Trump operative convince RdS to empty both barrels into his feet regarding the Soros DA witch hunt? That was a world class muff for RdS, more so than his mealy mouthed Uke sorta position.
I take it you don't care for these results. I imagine anyone who got wind of Karl Roves speech yesterday wouldn't like these results.
It’s like looking at the Spring Training records of MLB teams. Means nothing.
Desantis is a politician at his core, if his poll numbers don’t improve by August he won’t run. But he as already exposed himself doubt he will ever win GOP nomination again.
His whole plan is to wait for legal issues (fake) to be brought by DOJ, FBI etc. to see if it affects Trump polls then enter race as savior after over 1 year stealth big money campaign...it won’t work.
How did DeSantis choose poorly, when he hasn’t even officially decided that he’s running for president.
I think the last thing the Democrats want is to create a political martyr. All that does is galvanize the opposition even more.
“Does anyone believe poll results about a year out? Way to much time to go right now.”
No, not at all, but it’s still interesting that the same exact poll over time shows Trump support increasing.
Of course, that won’t matter to the city counting centers.
because these lefties on her think their opinions are facts ... like lefties everywhere ...
Stop with the, “He hasn’t even officially decided that he’s Running” BS charade...
I thought 2016 and 2020 were nuts. 2024 is going to be turned to 11.
I agree. The point of my post is, if this poll had come out showing a swing in the other direction it would be breaking news here and the TDS'ers would be all over it.
So there should be only one candidate?
“he hasn’t even officially decided that he’s running for president.”
So he’s doing the Grand Tour, traipsing all over God’s green earth, speechifying, just because it’s fun?
I'm thinking 12.
There is only one outsider running for president. You like the insiders? You go for it.
