Xi Jinping has a clearly-articulated view of the strategic rise of China.
By 2049, Xi says, China will have become the dominant world power, once more enjoying the superior military, economic, political and cultural status that was usurped by Western imperialism in the 19th century.
Since Xi’s rise to power, all his actions, at home and overseas, have focused on achieving this objective. His vision does not include a relationship with Russia as a peer, and never will.
Ultimately, Xi Jinping needs only energy from Putin. Even though Beijing can bargain the price down, they will be buying such vast quantities that Russian dependency on their market is assured, and the asymmetric relationship maintained. Beijing is also seeking to sanction-proof its own economy.
Guaranteed access to Siberia’s almost limitless resources, particularly of gas, would greatly help it to do so. Putin is already diverting gas destined for the European market to pipelines stretching across taiga and steppe to China’s northern border.
The most likely outcome is that by degrees a war-drained Russia will fall prey to overwhelming PRC influence – a strategic transformation for which the free world would be wise to prepare.

The vast majority of China’s crop production borders Russia.
It is also where their most modern mechanized large scale farming occurs.
That is an exposed weakness that China cannot afford to risk.
Not in China's mind. China is junior to no one.
BTW, China's target is the U.S., not Russia. And they are well along in implementing their takeover plan.
“Siberia is up for grabs as Putin becomes China’s vassal”
This is simply the NEOCONS saying to Russia: “Better watch out for China, we won’t be here to protect you.” (I know, try to keep a straight face)
The reason for this is that our IDIOT* Neocons have now pushed Russia and China into a economic alliance that will very likely grow into a MILITARY ALLIANCE, by far the strongest on the planet. Putin and She meet for 3 DAYS this week, and it won’t just be to share tea.
Bottom line is that Russia will simply FLATTEN China or any other country that makes a play for its land. China knows it, and even the Neocons know it (or there already would be NATO troops in Ukraine), so this ‘threat’ is simply more lies from the West. As long as China has access to Russian resources at reasonable prices, the cost/benefit ratio of taking Siberia makes it a non-starter.
*I don’t often call Leftists idiots because they’re usually brilliant. Think about it, they’ve convinced nearly half the country (and literally ALL elected Democrats) that it’s fine to be butchering our kids and to also dismantle our energy systems with no credible replacement (no way Putin could pull those stunts off). But in this case I make an exception, as I cannot, for the life of me, see why they needed to push Russia and China together at this point - if for no other reason, it means that Russia will not lose in Ukraine.
Not against China. They might insist on that as payment for help.
The stupid is strong with this article.
I bet even Apple, Microsoft, Nikon, Canon, etc. have contingency plans in place to move or restart production outside of China if products from there became unavailable.
The real challenge is to enact the ban. What will it take? Death of an American at the hands of the Chinese mililtary? Will we do it even then? We already have skipped over China and India partnering with Russia, thus allied against us vis-a-vis Ukraine and elsewhere, yet we still import cheap products from China and cheap labor from India.
By 2049 Jesus may be ruling from Jerusalem.
By 2049, Xi says, China will have become the dominant world power, once more enjoying the superior military, economic, political and cultural status that was usurped by Western imperialism in the 19th century.

Sums up the multi billion dollar CCP propaganda campaign.
During the Trump administration, Russia and China set a goal of reaching $200 billion dollars in trade by 2024, it is now 2023 and it looks like they will make it and even beat it by months.
In 2013 Trade between China and Russia was breaking new records and leading to articles such as this from April 12, 2013 “A Russia-China Alliance Brewing?”.
With growth like this:
“In 2012, the bilateral trade volume between China and Russia reached about US $88.15 billion, breaking the previous maximum compared with the previous quota in history. China has become Russia’s largest trading partner for the second consecutive year. In 2013, the bilateral trade volume between China and Russia reached US$89.21 billion, realizing continuous growth.”
And your point is? My point is that in 2013 the average Russian liked the American more than he liked Chinese, the the percentage of Chinese trade made about 10-15% in total Russian trade. Europe made 40-60% and it have been this way since the 16th century.
You could barely buy a Chinese-made appliance in Russia, everything from blender to a fridge was of local of European make.
Now, China and Europe reversed in importance for Russia, for the first time in centuries Russia can afford to spit on Europe, and on the West in general.
At the end of the day, if you will, this all sounds an awful lot like all the Cold War shit we’ve heard since the 1950’s.
As for those who think their nukes probably don’t even work; it was Russia hauling us back and forth from the space station until fairly recently.
LOL, keep telling yourself things are going swimmingly for your country because of this catastrophe of an invasion.
Can you maintain attention on one topic?
Yes, “Siberia is up for grabs as Putin becomes China’s vassal” as his invasion proves to be a catastrophic disaster for his country.
You made specific points regarding the trade relations, I answered it, and now you try to convert it into a political statement.
Regarding the topic, let’s talk about vassalage once Russia is starting to act against own interest on Chinese bidding. Like Europe does right now.
As for Siberia, the Chinese nldon’t like cold weather. It is a situation where you don’t need a cow to have milk. They can have anything they want in Siberia for good price.
I merely posted the pattern of trade growth between your country and China for the last 10 years.
Putin’s invasion is really opening fissures in your nation, but you always have China there to help you, good luck with that.
What is it opening is the Western hypocrisy, allegedly separating trade and politics. The whole world now realizes that the West can’t be trusted not to politicizw anything. It already bears results.
As for Russia, it uas a lot to offer to China but it doesn’t make it vassal.
The stronger the China and the weaker the West is the best for Russia at this point.
“”The stronger the China and the weaker the West is the best for Russia at this point.””
Which do you support, a weaker China or a weaker America/West?
I am not for the evaluation, I am just stating facts. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what is better for Russia. The entity not hell-bent on destroying you is preferable as a partner, even if it wasn’t true a decade ago.
