No, not true. If import of Chinese products was banned today we'd see a gradual, sometimes quit drawdown of inventory over the coming months, maybe even years. Prices would rise. As that drawdown commences, if it looks lasting, companies will spring up in the US and we'd find alternative foreign sources for the same or similar products.

I bet even Apple, Microsoft, Nikon, Canon, etc. have contingency plans in place to move or restart production outside of China if products from there became unavailable.

The real challenge is to enact the ban. What will it take? Death of an American at the hands of the Chinese mililtary? Will we do it even then? We already have skipped over China and India partnering with Russia, thus allied against us vis-a-vis Ukraine and elsewhere, yet we still import cheap products from China and cheap labor from India.

They already have. China's been getting more and more expensive, so a lot of cheap manufacturing has found other places like India or Indonesia or such.
