Bow on the girly-dog’s head and the boys get new, cool kerchiefs around their necks.

Howdy, Kathy.

Were the streets in decent shape when you went out today? The sun was mighty slow breaking through the clouds. It’s blazing now though.

We’re Not Alone

Bible in a Year:

I stand at the door and knock.

Revelation 3:20

In Fredric Brown's short story thriller “Knock,” he wrote, “The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door.” Yikes! Who could that be, and what do they want? What mysterious being has come for him? The man is not alone.

Neither are we.

The church in Laodicea heard a knock on their door (Revelation 3:20). What supernatural Being had come for them? His name was Jesus, “the First and the Last . . . the Living One” (1:17–18). His eyes blazed like fire, and His face “like the sun shining in all its brilliance” (v. 16). When His best friend, John, caught a glimpse of His glory, he “fell at his feet as though dead” (v. 17). Faith in Christ begins with the fear of God.

We’re not alone, and this is also comforting. Jesus “is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word” (Hebrews 1:3). Yet Christ uses His strength not to slay us but to love us. Hear His invitation, “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” (Revelation 3:20). Our faith begins with fear—Who is at the door?—and it ends in a welcome and strong embrace. Jesus promises to always stay with us, even if we’re the last person on earth. Thank God, we’re not alone.

Reflect & Pray

Why can’t we separate Christ’s power from His love? Why are both vitally important?

Dear Jesus, I welcome You into my heart and life.

I’m not too keen on having strangers poking around out here. My helpers are people I know and trust - - my “guardian angels” and a couple of friends. A lot of junk has already been hauled off and I’ve sold several things from the barn. People like old farm stuff to use as “lawn jewelry”. The big hay rake goes to its new home next week.

It’ll get done. It just won’t be done in a week. LOL

The boys are lucky these days. Years ago, my parents had a miniature poodle and he came home with blue bows on his ears. He’d hide behind the sofa until Mom finally took them off. Poor li’l feller was embarrassed.
Once minus the bows, he pranced all over the place. He loved getting his hair cut. Silly dog.

Good evening, beachy...it’s sunny and 34 right now, but I had to go into work this morning and it was sunny and 16 with a breeze. Quite the chilly walk into the building.

Days are getting to regularly get above freezing, but nights are still low 20s and teens. I just saw a patch of asphalt on my driveway! Snow is melting on sunny days, even with lower temps, but we need 24 hours of above freezing to make good progress.

Oh, rats! I miscalculated and thought it was "music night". Sorry I missed you, but hope you have a great weekend! Nighty-night, Early Bird!

Hi, radu...the roads I’m using are mostly dry. The edges have the constant running water of the melting edge berms, but no wall to wall “puddles” yet. When those start appearing and hide holes big enough to swallow cars, the city will have to get out and start thawing drains.

No sign of any asphalt yet on my street...the ice is still too thick. We usually have edge to edge lakes before they get here to thaw drains, and there is one on each corner of the intersection.
