~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas

TXnaskingsville6

Naval Air Station Kingsville or NAS Kingsville is a United States Navy Naval Air Station located approximately 3 miles east of Kingsville, Texas in Kleberg County. NAS Kingsville is under the jurisdiction of Navy Region Southeast and is the headquarters of Training Air Wing Two. The station also operates a nearby satellite airfield, NALF Orange Grove.

Naval Air Station Kingsville is one of the U.S. Navy’s premier locations for jet aviation training. The naval air station’s primary mission is to train Student Naval Aviators for the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps and tactical jet pilots for other select NATO and Allied countries.

To accomplish its mission, NAS Kingsville is home to Training Air Wing Two and several tenant commands, military as well as civilian, with a total complement of approximately 300 officers, 200 enlisted, 350 civilian personnel, and 625 contract maintenance personnel.

TXnaskingsville4

The wing was the first in the Navy to operate the Boeing T-45 Goshawk aircraft, providing a single carrier-capable aircraft to replace the North American Rockwell T-2 Buckeye and the McDonnell Douglas TA-4 Skyhawk II in the Navy's strike pilot training pipeline.

Originally equipped with the T-45A model of the Goshawk, the wing began accepting new production T-45C model aircraft in 2005, which replaces the earlier T-45A aircraft's analog cockpit with a digital or "glass" cockpit similar to what students will find when they transition to operational fleet combat aircraft.

TXnaskingsville3

The NAS Kingsville Operations Department operates the airfield and provides services to support operations of activity, tenant, and transiting aircraft; provides firefighting functions, both structural fire and rescue; provides air traffic control; operates the air terminal; schedules administrative and proficiency flights; repairs and maintains station ground electronics equipment; stores, maintains, and issues assigned ordnance and munitions; operates firing ranges; operates aerial targets, bombing ranges, and auxiliary landing fields.

March 14

Game of Change

Bible in a Year:

Love your enemies.

Luke 6:27

The handshake spoke volumes. On a March night in 1963, two college basketball players—one Black, one White—defied the hate of segregationists and shook hands, marking the first time in Mississippi State’s history that its all-White men’s team played against an integrated team. To compete in the “game of change” against Loyola University Chicago in a national tournament, the Mississippi State squad avoided an injunction to stop them by using decoy players to leave their state. Loyola’s Black players, meantime, had endured racial slurs all season, getting pelted with popcorn and ice, and faced closed doors while traveling.

Yet the young men played. The Loyola Ramblers beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs 61–51, and Loyola eventually went on to win the NCAA national championship. But what really won that night? A move from hate toward love. As Jesus taught, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you” (Luke 6:27).

God’s instruction was a life-changing concept. To love our enemies as Christ taught, we must obey His revolutionary mandate to change. As Paul wrote, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). But how does His new way in us defeat the old? With love. Then, in each other, we can finally see Him.

Reflect & Pray

In your life, what leads you to see others as enemies? What changes can you make to confront hate with Jesus’ love?

Help me, loving God, to see others not as enemies, but as Your precious people to love like Jesus does.

Yo radu, sorry I missed you last night, this darn DST has thrown off my sleep schedule a bit.

Not much for me this past weekend, I did visit the pups and Robin and son had a day off so that was nice.

We may creep into the mid 50's this week which will be a nice change, looking forward to warmer weather.

How are you and when does your museum open?

Howdy, PRO!

It seems I’m the only one who’s learned how to not be affected by the time change. LOL

It sounds like you had a good weekend, getting to spend time with everyone. Is that adorable lil Wild Man still wild and crazy, putting on shows out in the yard? LOL

Mid 50s will feel like a heat wave after the cold you’ve had lately.

I’m keeping a little busy around here. Hubby’s buddies who have had old junk cars and other stuff sitting around have been coming by periodically to haul some of their stuff out of here. A couple of them were here today.

I wanted to pick up more tree trash but it’s too cold. We’ll warm up later this week and I’ll get out there to do it. The wind goes right through to the marrow. BRRRRRR

Oooooo, that loooooonnnnnnngggggg trip to North Carolina sounds excellent. Pretty nice there in May. Not hot, not cold, but cooler than TX will be by then. LOL Everything’s green and pretty.

I’m doing well enough, I reckon. Just waiting for winter to leave us alone!

Oops! I forgot to answer your question.

The museum is supposed to reopen in a month, provided nothing comes up to postpone it. I’m champin’ HARD at the bit. LOL
