A monument to abolitionist Harriet Tubman was revealed Thursday in Newark, New Jersey, after a statue of explorer Christopher Columbus was removed.
“The city, which is now 48% Black and 37% Latino, according to the U.S. Census, was a known stop along the Underground Railroad, which was a network of routes escaped slaves followed to find freedom in states that had abolished slavery,” NBC News reported Friday. The current monument stands in place of the Columbus statue removed during the George Floyd riots that erupted in 2020, per Reuters:

The runaway slaves weren’t safe in New Jersey—they had to get to Canada to be beyond the reach of slave-catchers.
Tubman was a pro-gun Republican who shot Democrats. If they can bring back the Columbus statue, fine, otherwise I’m not seeing a downside.
I wonder if they will tear Harriet Tubman’s statute down when they learn that she was a deeply religious, gun-toting Republican?

Replacing statues... flows from replacing people. General thesis of the article. Replacing more and more people in positions of power will flow from this - and then getting new cultural and economic norms similar to the countries of origin of the new populace. It’s a given. And we are seeing it.

Another example of how the Dems’ propaganda cliche promotion of the word “democracy” would mean any minority (the literal term, not a code word for black) would have no rights at all. Just the popular, trendy majority with all the rights including the right to live.
On the other side, when black people marched for various causes in the 1960s there were many white people with them and many fighting for them in courts and Congress (against the Dixiecrat Democrats and the KKK).
Many white people fought for others’ rights. Today’s wokesters fight selfishly for only themselves. College majority now favors no rights for “hate speech” and for those with whom they disagree, according to some polls.
Works unless their own ideas will be at stake someday.

The downside is no need for removal of the Columbus statue.

The Spanish restored Spain to the Spanish people in the Reconquesta, even thought it took hundreds of years to accomplsih. America was discovered, in part, as a celebration of the return of Spanish sovreignity over all of historic Spain.
An American Reconquesta is needed.
