I’m pretty sure that Pence was in on the whole thing with Pelosi and McConnell. They wanted an event that they could then weaponize against Trump and everyone who voted for him. That’s why only half of the Capitol Police were on duty, that’s why the National Guard wasn’t there or any meaningful barriers around the capitol. Did Pence ever raise the issue with Pelosi and McConnell or did he just go along with their plan?

Thank you for pointing out that particular lie repeated by Mr. Pence. He could have simply followed the example of other previous elections where the acceptance of the votes of electors was debated, and even voted upon by the Senate.

Trump picked a lot of people who didn’t work out well.
He did great things for the country, but his people choices were often bad. He really needs to be more discerning.
In picking Pence, Trump was probably playing to the Christian vote. I totally agree with you that it was a mistake.
