WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell suffered a concussion after a fall at a local hotel and remains hospitalized “for a few days of observation and treatment,” a spokesman said Thursday.
The Kentucky senator, 81, was at a Wednesday evening dinner for the Senate Leadership Fund, a campaign committee aligned with him, when he tripped and was admitted to the hospital, his office said. The dinner was at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC, formerly the Trump International Hotel, Washington D.C.
Spokesman David Popp said McConnell is being treated for a concussion and “is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”
In 2019, the GOP leader tripped and fell at his home in Kentucky, suffering a shoulder fracture. At the time, he underwent surgery to repair the fracture in his shoulder. The Senate had just started a summer recess, and he worked from home for some weeks as he recovered.

“The only consolation is that most of us here will outlive these doddering old Commies and RINOs. ;)”
But we’ll be suffering the consequences of their actions.
At 81 he should give up the whiskey.
Concussion - he really was slapped around like Reid.
...you have to remember that the Governor of Kentucky is a Democrat, and thus would appoint a Dem replacement, further strenghtening Chuck Schumer's hand, at least for a while.
According to "Ballotpedia", Kentucky is a state where:
U.S. Senate vacancies are temporarily filled by gubernatorial appointment. The appointee serves until the next statewide general election is held; the winner in that election serves out the remainder of the term.
Might not be as bad as the RINO McConnell.
Hope the old bitch suffers horribly and dies.
He should be in a ventilator, it worked so well on Covid treatments.
Bad falls are no fun.
I wish him a speedy recovery.
Of course his detractors have been telling him, “Yertle old!”
Finally, some good news
I’m nearly 69, working here in the tax department of a large real estate company. Great people, interesting work, I’ll do it as long as I can. Just started WFH a few weeks ago, Monday and Friday.
I thought the GOP legislature was working on a way around the D governor legislation regardless the election this year should boot the Democrat and elect an R governor so in 10 months yeah.
Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t roll over…
Look again.
“Note: Following a change to state law in 2021, the governor must select an appointee who belongs to the same party as the departing senator. The governor must also select the appointee from a list of three names provided by that party’s executive committee.”
That was Kentucky SB 228, which was (no surprise) vetoed by said D governor.
Chinese fall?
First it was that McConnell fell. Then it was that he had a concussion. Waiting for additional reports, like we’re waiting to find out if Fetterman will recover from being flatlined.
I just can’t conjure up any interest or concern about this traitor’s health.
