Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is a rare category of death in children over the age of one, in which the cause remains unknown even after thorough investigation.

Ms Wroath said the lack of research and awareness surrounding SUDC had created what appeared to be an "unsolvable mystery" around her daughter's death.
"There is a stigma that comes with SUDC, weirdly, even though it's horrific and tragic, people don't know what it is," she said.

The vaccines have nothing to do with anything-—the vaccines are safe and effective. They don’t stop covid spread, they don’t protect from getting covid and these “vaccines” certainly do NOT cause heart and lung problems. No sir, no more studies are needed-—just take the shot, wear a mask and shut up!
Miranda was rushed to hospital on 9 January 2008, but was sadly pronounced dead.
The doctors said she had died suddenly and without explanation in her sleep.
More than 15 years later, Ms Wroath, who lives in Gloucestershire, still has no answers as to why Miranda, who was medically fit and healthy, died so young.

I see a blatant effort by the media to reach back into time and find a few isolated tragedies. A child died in 2008? Maybe ... 5 children died in 2008? Well, look around — we have 2000 children dying this year. [shrug] I guess it’s the same thing, nothing has changed, moved along.
Yeah, my numbers are pulled right out of you-know-where. But the real point is that sudden unexplained deaths seem to have skyrocketed in the past couple years. Find a few isolated cases from past decades doesn’t mean that “nothing is going on” today.

Data from NOMIS Mortality Statistics shows that between 2013 and 2021 there were 128 deaths of children aged 1-19 in England and Wales where the underlying cause was “Other sudden death, cause unknown” (ICD-10 code R96). 63 of these were among children aged 1-4 years.
As noted above, the National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) has analysed the deaths of all children in England who died suddenly and unexpectedly after birth and before their eighteenth birthday in the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2021. Its findings were presented in its report on Sudden and Unexpected Deaths in Infancy and Childhood. It found that there were:
523 sudden and unexpected deaths of children across the two-year period where there was no immediately apparent cause, a rate of 2.28 deaths per 100,000 1-17 year olds. Death rates were highest among the 1–4 year olds (3.46 per 100,000 population) and the 15-17 year olds (3.02 per 100,000 population).
Table 11, on page 33 of the report, provides further information on age at death, sex, area (rural/urban), deprivation and region. The report also provides information on the ‘birth characteristics of the children’ as well as the ‘social environment background of the children’.
