Residents in Newburyport are demanding that the City Council replace the Massachusetts flag and seal, claiming that the imagery is problematic and helps promote the state’s racist history.
According to the Newburyport Daily News, the Council received a resolution on Feb. 27 asking them to support the work of the Special Commission Relative to the Seal and Motto of the Commonwealth. The Commission, in part, recommended replacing the seal and flag to better reflect the diverse residents now living in Massachusetts.
That same day, the resolution was referred to the General Government Committee in a 9-2 vote.

And as for the question about Newburyport...just remember that the entire state is a Maoist $hithole.
I have a new Latin motto for their commie flag:
“Gli Uomini Di Governo”
(Ruled By Stupid People)
Excellent. Why not change it to an all white flag?
How about blowing the bridges, blocking the roadways out, raising the Union Jack and giving the whole place back to the king.
From the article: “...both the flag and the seal depict a White hand grasping a Colonial sword over the head of a Native American person. Both emblems include the Latin motto “Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem” which translates to “She seeks by the sword a quiet place under liberty.”
Being from Mass this doesnt surprise me. My guess is there are no indians actually actively looking to change the flag, just entitled white folks looking for some attention.
Paint it to resemble a big turd to honor it’s more current turd roller history.
If the state flag/emblem is so offensive, why weren’t they “outraged” about it last year, or last month?
not to mention two Democrat Senators and a few more Democrat Representatives.
Flag to better reflect the diverse residents
Wonder how many cave men had them
This. We need more awareness of this activity pushed by influencers and push back.
