New evidence suggests Dr. Fauci prompted the drafting of “Proximal Origins” to disprove the lab leak theory, the authors of this paper skewed available evidence to achieve that goal, and Dr. Jeremy Farrar went uncredited despite significant involvement.

Don’t get tangled up in “lab leak”.
Saying “leak” claims more than we can know.
And focussing on a “leak” takes us away from the REALLY important issues, which are:
1) Gain of function work on bat coronaviruses. Where did it happen, under whose direction, and who paid for it.
2) Knowledge that a modified bat coronavirus had infected humans. When was that known, where did it happen (Italy? China? France?, etc, etc).
3) Contents of the “call” on February 1, 2020 among the following scientists:

about which Jeremy Farrar wrote “information is shared in total confidence and not to be shared until agreement on next steps”.
What has always bothered me about the origin story is the extreme URGENCY exhibited in what are usually called the “Fauci emails” but which are mostly Jeremy Farrar emails either to, from, or cc: to Fauci.
These people are normally very, very cool customers, and yet the email chain, and the events that followed, give off a flavor of panic.
I suppose “lab leak”, broadly construed, would include a single individual infected in, say, October 2019 who then travelled to Lombardy and ignited the Italian event, stopping in Teheran on the way home and starting the Iranian event, with slow collateral spread happening in Wuhan until the holiday travel ignited the events of January 2020.

Based on the interesting interview of Dr. Andrew Huff on Steve Bannon’s War Room last week (mysteriously never posted in his archive of shows), Huff said that one of the best ways that anyone has in tracking down the exact time and location of the breakout, is via blood donations. It was the first I had heard of this, and one of the main reasons I wanted to review his interview, but he gave the impression that information was already gathered, and if I understood him correctly, it was almost as if he was saying some sample of all blood donations are permanently kept for future review.
He’s written on book on the topic, which I am probably going to pick up soon, as well and RFK’s new book on Wuhan due out in just a couple of weeks.
