That appears to be the entire story here. No other details. That's it.
The news profession is pitiful.
Fine time to spill.
There was an incident where “man of the people” carried his own suitcase down the stairs of Air Force One. It later came to be known the bag was empty; it was all for “show”.
I’ve heard this for at least 20 years.
Small picture President not built for the executive job and the miserable results in office are testimony to this fact.
Carter was in over his head. I imagine the frustration caused him to be irritable with people. Kamala, anyone?
He tried to kill that little rabbit.
He had me fooled a bit but he was a dim and his Presidency was a disaster. HIs post Presidency revealed to me a bitter person. I read enough about him here on FR to not exactly like him although some here do.
Why do you guys direct FR to MSN?
Why won’t you send us to the actual source?
Its interesting what Secret Service say about those they protect. For the most part, politicians are polite and nice, but the rare ones, like Carter and Hillary for example, are known for being rude and even abusive.
I knew an older guy who was on the president’s Secret Service detail.
Me: Who was your favorite president to work for?
Him: That was Ronald Reagan, easily. He was always friendly with us. Here’s just one example. Reagan kept a record of the birthdays of all our children. And on that day he’d convey his birthday wishes.
Me: Who was your least favorite president to work for?
Him (smiling): I’d rather not say.
So I got at least half the story.
And some SS agents should learn to keep their traps shut.
I just looked up his Naval career and found this which I never knew before:
Profile in courage: When Jimmy Carter helped save a nuclear reactorIt's a fascinating story that I've never heard before. I'm not an apologist for Carter. I'm just pointing out he took on tough assignments for ultra-demanding bosses early in his career that would make you "rude and short."On Dec. 12, 1962, the NRX research reactor at Chalk River, Ontario, in Canada had suffered a partial meltdown. Ruptured radioactive fuel rods were stuck inside the reactor core. Radioactive water filled the reactor building’s basement.
Lieutenant Carter was an officer in the Navy’s nuclear submarine program and thus an expert on reactors and nuclear physics. He led a 23-person Navy crew charged with helping in the Chalk River cleanup. They were told that due to exposure to radioactivity, it was possible they would never have children.
He brought to the task precision, intelligence, and dedication – qualities that would later make him, if not a great president, perhaps the most consequential ex-president in American history. His famously demanding Navy boss, nuclear sub pioneer Adm. Hyman G. Rickover, later praised the work Lieutenant Carter did and said it laid the ground for his larger understanding of atomic science.
“He did an outstanding job,” said Admiral Rickover at the 1977 commissioning of a nuclear-powered cruiser. “In the process, he learned much about the practical aspects of nuclear power.”
Typical Democrat attitude.
This was well known at the time—like everything else in the mass media his positive “reputation” was a lie.
The question we should be asking ourselves is, why is MSN pushing this narrative at this time? Just some speculative possibilities:
1) Carter is white, so we can’t mourn his passing. (The same will be true when Bill Clinton enters his final days.)
2) Carter was a liberal without being a leftist. For all of his stupid moves, and there were many, among other things he deregulated communications and transportation, laying the foundation for decades of technological innovation in phones, cable and later internet, and air travel. All of that is counterrevolutionary, and we can’t have that.
3) Carter is a Christian, again liberal without being leftist, so his Christian beliefs are not revolution-promoting enough to let him be thought of kindly.
4) Any moment spent dissing Carter is one less moment necessary to keep people from dissing Brandon, and we must keep people from dissing Brandon.
I’m sure there are other possibilities, but I have to get back to work...
I don’t care who the president is, the Secret Service agent should keep their mouth shut. There is no excuse to soil Carter’s reputation especially while he is on his death bed. And if someone thinks it is, just wait until the same happens to Trump.
Had a buddy whose brother was SS on FLOTUS detail at the time. He insisted one of his partners was shtupping Rosalyn.😳
From what I have seen , read, and heard Jimmy Carter was a nice Christian man who had absolutely no business in the Oval Office.
