Not sure I disagree with this but I’m no authority. Do you really need an entire platoon of snipers? Couldn’t a scout platoon have a couple of squads of snipers and designated marksmen among its ranks? Perhaps some vets could chime in here.
They couldn’t reduce standards sufficient to allow women to qualify for duty in the platoon....
I was trying to track down the rationale behind this and, from what I can tell, they’re not getting rid of scout snipers but getting rid of the separate division and rolling that into general platoon training.
But it still seems it’s one more thing they want to get rid of that represented proud American, independent service over the past decade.
What next? will the Marines be required to wear lipstick, dresses and wigs? Where will biden take this great fighting force next?
How much more can he humiliate this country?
What’s the plan, joe? make us miserable, cold and hungry so we depend on government and vote democrat? Or are you trying to provoke marches in the streets by the good guys so that you can plant fbi agents, turn the marches violent, justifying reprisals against the good guys?

I’d give it even odds as to whether the military is used to defend the country or attack its own citizens. At this point your average conservative doesn’t have much of a rooting interest here.
Then again ghillie suits may not be available in maternity styles or rainbow hues.
I’ve yet to see anyone screaming about this show me why an elite scout platoon containing snipers and designated marksmen may not be preferable to an entire scout platoon of snipers? I certainly can imagine a rationale for this but I’m not a vet and can’t opine one way or the other.

Maybe Milley was not satisfied with Sniper Platoons training from CRT and other woke programs.
Without tanks and only a few landing craft, the Marines are essentially just another light infantry and may as well be rolled into the Army.
In the Canadian infantry, everyone is a marksman. There’s recce platoon for sniping etc. So not every platoon will have snipers and the gear, but depending on he mission you could get a sniper det attached to you.
